Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (h) sponsored by a new hope

Old Man Andrews
John Smith I've just realised Daniel Johnson will be playing tomorrow. The potential for one of the biggest midfield footballing lessons since Arter for Fulham a few weeks ago.

Its Tuesday John........

See what the international break does to me.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (h) sponsored by a new hope

Their away form isn't great - only won once. Being optimistic I think the new manager bounce can definitely get us a point.

Then again it could be a Swansea-esque New Years' Day moment when the "new dawn" lasted barely two minutes.

Old Man Andrews
paultheroyal "on paper" - he has a decent 6 games to start with....

12 points+ anyone?

If he gets 0 points in the 6 games does he go?

Who's going to sack him if he does?!

Re: Next Manager

slightly surprised that Daniel Stendel hasn't got more of a mention actually. Would seemingly fit the bill fairly well - being available, good career record so far, but not being a massive shift from the Gomes type model Just don't see the club replacing a manager who they fired for having us in th...

Re: Manager v luck etc

Was in Cornwall a few week back and ended up in the same hotel as Billy Bonds. Amongst other things we chatted about footballers today. His take was that there is no longer the loyalty or commitments to managers or clubs from players. Players are predominantly mercenary, in it for the money. Badge ...

Re: Manager v luck etc

Luck can not explain a teams fortune/misfortune over a season. Stop you there. It depends - solely - on whether the length of the season is enough for the games played to be a decent, statistically relevant sample. Once we've got that out of the way, there's enough data out there to be able to esti...

Re: Next Manager

Remember how we signed Joao a couple of days after we played against his then-team Sheffield Wednesday? So last Saturday we played Bristol City, and you know Lee Johnson? Well... His dad, Gary, is the manager of Torquay United and his win percentage is currently over 50% Just saying. (In truth it's...

Re: Next Manager

Ainsworth would be a very astute choice. He'd be able to work on a budget and bring some promising talent up from Wycombe, also the likes of Akinfenwa who would also be a real handful up top.

2 world wars, 1 world cup Over the past few days it has swung to 55% in / 40% out, which is quite a swing.

Re: Next Manager

Just to add I very much doubt Chris Hughton would be interested. His stock is still quite high and could be an attractive option for a premier league struggler come Christmas time. You really have completely lost the plot haven't you. Why is Sol Campbell's name not in the poll? Proven himself in a ...
