Re: Doing the 92

My visit to the City Ground for England's game vs Senegal will make it 77. Looking to add Bradford City and Doncaster to the list next season.

Re: On this day......

Can’t believe today 14th was 30 years ago we won 3-1 at Tranmere, in the first leg of the championship playoffs. Brilliant support that day packed the away end. Happy days. My favourite away day ever and a fantastic performance against a team that had the best home record in the division that seaso...

Cardiff made it to the Cup Winners' Cup QFs in 1971. They lost to Real Madrid on aggregate, but managed to win the first leg 1-0.

Re: Goal of the season 2024/25

Wing V Wrexham but I tend to prefer a good team move over a 30 yarder. +1. I also think that the excellent passing and movement between Garcia, Wifi, and Abrefa is missing a bit from that video snippet. Wing's goals when he has been on the end of a third-man running passage of play in the final thi...

Goal of the season 2024/25

Just voted for mine: Lewis Wing's goal vs Wrexham. Wonderful team move finished with a Wing thunderbastard; Sam Smith's beauty vs Cambridge a distant second.

Re: On This Day

78/9 was my first 'proper' season too. Went with the neighbours for Doncaster in September and was hooked. Highlights were 5-1 Northampton at home ( pretty sure it was on Southern telly - anyone got it?) in February and Pompey and Aldershot over Easter (both 4-0 but I may be wrong). We seemed to wi...

Re: On This Day

Appearances that season for the defence were nuts: Death 46/46, Peters 45/46, Bennett 45/46, Hicks 46/46, White 46/46. They also all appeared in the eleven cup ties that season. That seems ridiculous now. There was probably only 15 In the entire squad. That was my very first season of watching Read...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Real Betis pulled a crowd of 31,500 at the Benito Villamarin last Saturday - for a TRAINING session. Followed that on Sunday with a record crowd of 58,538 for the Seville derby, where they beat their deadly city rivals 2-1. that is THE game I want to experience in Spain. I've heard numerous...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

Earnshaw is rubbish with stats....the 1994 game was a 4-0 win in the 1993-94 promotion season under Mark McGhee, still ranks as one of the top 3 away performances I've seen from us. Was there for that too! Applauded off at the end by the Blackpool fans as I remember. Fantastic away day that started...

Dariusz Wdowczyk by a country mile. Shame he was a walking sicknote. I hope Tyler Bindon's career continues to blossom as he is such class act.

Major concerns about the US ability to process between 6-8 million visitors for next year. There are 42 countries in the US visa waiver program, but Argentina, Brazil, Colombia - and even co-host Mexico are not included. Incredibly, the visa application window for Colombia (700 days) has already clo...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 24/25

It's actually slightly nuts that Arsenal have only won one major European trophy in their history - and it is a competition that doesn't exist any more. 13 league titles, 14 FA Cups - and one Cup Winners' Cup. Also - doesn't time pass? Liverpool went 31 years without winning the league. Unless Arse...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (a)

Great away day. Lovely weather, motorways clear, parking right outside the away end, epic pie & mushy peas, good performance, comeback win with a late winner, home by 8:30. Thought we dominated the first half and should have been at least one up - stunning stop by Tickle from Garcia's volley. Th...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (h)

Thoroughly enjoyable 0-0 and we were very much worth the point. Craig and Knibbs were immense and Mbengue's goal line clearance defied logic. Interesting to note that some on Birmingham fans' forum rated us the best side they have faced this season.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cambridge United (a)

Smith's goal certainly the best I can recall since that goal by Quinn against Wolves in '96. I did witness Friday's goal vs Tranmere in '76 and the difference was the brutal power he generated - the keeper was still diving when it hit the bottom corner of the net. One goal I have seen since has remi...

Re: The Non - League thread

Think this is the season it all catches up with Maidenhead. Really can’t keep themselves safe year after year after year after year as amateurs when practically everyone else in the division is professional. Out of interest are there any professional sides in the NLN and NLS? I think South Shields ...

Note that there is no parking at stadium and no park & ride to the stadium available on NYD. Booked a private street parking spot on JustPark.
