Re: Rival Watch

I think 51 will be enough. With Wigan getting 12 points deduction then with 6 games left you would imagine none of bottom three will get more than 10 points. And likely that if they did others would struggle. I think it will be 3 of Luton, Wigan, hull and stoke. If reading only pick up one or zero p...

Re: Rival Watch

EFL rules clear on this. If Wigan finish outside of the relegation places after 46 games then the 12 point deduction is applied this season on conclusion if season. If Wigan within 11 points of 22nd team (or 12 points if worse goal difference) they go down. If more than that they stay up.

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Undoubtedly Trevor Morley. We were completely toothless without him in 96/97 and definitely kept us up. But then I would say that wouldn’t I?!

And then Michael Gilkes for all second halves at home when we were kicking towards the tilehurst end in 1993...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Got lots of snippets lined up from the 1992/93 season. An 8th place finish but for me the season that Reading really turned the corner, leading to an upswing that lasted 20 years. Rather painstaking trawling through VHS, but no better time to do this I guess! Watch this space. Have been loving thes...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

When strap has a strong view I find myself hurtling in the diametrically opposite direction.... My reflections would be as follows I suspect they want a bigger ‘name‘ from abroad at some point but were persuaded by Howe to let bowen steady the ship and prove himself. Bowen comes across as pragmatic....

The only time I got a decent LOL from those sitting around me. Andy Bernal comes into pitch with us 6-0 down as a sub.

Re: Are we really going down this season

to answer the question we are 100% categorically going down. We are in a perfect storm that shows no sign of relenting yet. at some stage we will hit bottom and start to rise again - I just hope that is before we are in League 2.

From Gomes with Love.....

Minha querida, So once again I am writing to you from a far off land. I know after my footballing pilgrimage that you were hoping that I would remain in Portugal for longer than 56 days but a football managers life is a nomadic one. Almost like a shepherd in those nativity scenes that we enjoyed as ...

Re: New Manager

I think Scott Marshall is a very good bet at 16-1.... nite that he has been put in charge not Gibbs. Also has led under 23s to 14 match unbeaten run. But more importantly Howe is in charge and there is form for promoting from within when the team is struggling. Pardew was one example but who really ...

I wonder if this is related to the new baby I think he and partner had recently. Surely not a repeat of Trevor Francis and Martin Allen circa 1990

Re: BFT - I don’t know what to call it

I posed this question recently but I still don't have the answer to what brand of football Clement plays. He seems to be the ultimate lets work our how the opposition are going to play and then set up to neutralise their strengths. That works away from home, But it doesn't work at home. We need a fa...

Re: BFTG - Norwich

Can someone explain to me what our style of football is under Clement. I have no idea despite going to every home match. it looks no different to last seasons remaining 8 games which were supposed to be an emergency approach to avoid relegation. By the way Baldock reminds me of a car that looks the ...

Re: Clement

I like Clement as a person. He is honest. Not afraid of having a go at players. He comes across well on the radio. But the reasons why I like him are the reasons he should go. I don't say that lightly. I have always been one of the give them a chance brigade. essentially his media performances are h...

Whilst his record on incoming transfers was mixed no better man for extracting maximum value from departing players and often involved in sales when the price for player was at the very top of market. And will always be remembered for somehow getting 500k for Andy Hughes (with the small profit on ha...

Unlike previous poster I though McNulty was excellent tonight. A really clever player who always added something positive with every touch and who has that bit of extra vision. On a night when he didn’t have many clear cut chances he still made a reading by his vision and work rate. his ball for mei...

Re: RUMOUR- John O’shea set to sign for Reading

I really don't get what the risk is? He wont be on top dollar at 37 years old and he is getting coaching experience so that is likely to be a bartering tool that reading use to get wages down further. Its a one year contract with no fee. and we get another experienced voice in the dressing room. And...

Re: RUMOUR- John O’shea set to sign for Reading

All this fretting is laughable. He is being bought in as a leader and for his personality. Just as Yiadom and I suspect elphick will be. Clement has been very clear he wants more leaders in dressing room. He’ll be back up and on hand when we need a steady influence. And he gets a chance to develop a...

He publically congratulated him on twitter on his appointment (and he isn't prolific on twitter). I think if something was on in the offing he wouldn't have said anything on twitter.....
