Re: Rival Watch

URZZZZ Derby have signed winger Jordon Ibe on a two year deal

Could be a good signing for them, he’s still at a relatively young age and IIRC he’s had a decent loan spell there before

According to Bournemouth fans he has serious off the pitch issues. May be a fresh start is what he needs.....

Re: Rival Watch

Why's that guys? I guess that just seems to be like the most obviously idiotic thing a footballer would get involved in and gets you sacked. That or it was COVID related, i.e. broke COVID rules or claimed he had COVID and coughed on someone. Other footballer have broken COVID rules and not been sac...

Re: Rumour - Rob Dickie

Cooper, Stacey, Dickie, Fosu....we really dropped the ball. It was clear at the time they were not far off the required standard (they are not another Antonio who was sold at the right time). What is their collective value now? Was it Stam and Tevreden who shipped them out? To be fair, they have al...

Re: CONFIMRED - Veljko Paunović

The play off game at Wembley clearly showed the teams limitations. Nonsense. Both sides were pretrified of losing and didn't turn up, no reflection of limitations or overall quality. It can happen to the very best teams in big games. Agreed but IMO it showed the limitations of a 5 at the back forma...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

THere is also going to be quite a few footballers who now find themselves without a club and not many clubs looking for players.....for example it will be interesting to see what happens to Osho now....he's 22 in a week....will he get a Championship club or is he scrabbling around for L1???

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Well, this is interesting. Football league clubs have voted to implement a total salary cap of £2.5m for League One and £1.5m for League Two for the 2020-21 season - agreement also to restrict squad size to no more than 20 players over 21 years of age. Proposal in front of Championship clubs is app...

Re: End of season sale - value the squad

The Secret Footballer, in one of his books said the following, which I was surprised about. If a player leaves and hasn't instigated the move theirselves i.e. asked for a transfer, then the selling club has to pay up the players contract in full. Now, I imagine there would be room for negotiation i...

Re: End of season sale - value the squad

So Aluko will cost us something like £750k to £1.5m over the next year. I'd say that puts his price at around -£500k. Ie, if it got him off the wage bill, I'd pay a club £500k to sign him and we'd still come out ahead on the deal. The Secret Footballer, in one of his books said the following, which...

Re: Confimred loan - Ovie Ejaria

Unfortunately this is Hobnob. Back in the real world your case makes perfect sense. If Brentford’s strategy doesn’t amount to sound financial stability in the crazy world of football finance, God knows what that says about all those fretting over points deductions as the bulldozers arrive at Griffi...

Re: Confimred loan - Ovie Ejaria

That's not the same as making a profit. If one club succeeds and 23 don't... what does that tell you about the success of trying to spend to make money. What's Brentford's record signing? How often do they pay out £1m plus on transfers? What's their wage to income ratio? How much profit have they m...

Re: Confimred loan - Ovie Ejaria

Do they actually make a profit then? One club means bugger all even if they do. Well they have made 120 million in transfers over the last 5 years. Thats where you are wrong, one club doing it shows it can be done by other clubs. That's not the same as making a profit. If one club succeeds and 23 d...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

If we're going back on our word with Liverpool only to sign him on a free, I assume they will never loan/sell us anybody again and could have grounds to take us to court. I assume we're making a late attempt to get him to agree to a lower wage, which isn't as silly as it sounds in the current envir...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

OTOH we might be saying to Liverpool that if we pay £3M we'' be docked 15 points and probs relegated, can we change the shape of the deal and make it incentive based instead of a lump sum (if it was a lump sum) The fee is not the problem for FFP as that is amortised over the length of the contract....

Only 3 players have more assists than him this season? Well if that is how you are measuring creativity then there are 3 more creative than him........and then if you look at how many minutes have been played he falls even further down the list, if you also then includes goals scored he falls even ...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

Hendo But 10 assists and 6 goals is still a decent return for a creative midfielder in a team that has been a bit of a shambles this season.

Not going to disagree with that.

Re: Squad for 2020/21

I'm all for a salary cap but they can't just introduce one out of the blue in 2 months. It's going to be impossible for us and other teams to save over £20m in wages in such a short time, especially the Premier League teams coming down. Yeah, I'd expect it to be introduced over the next few years. ...
