Re: The Non - League thread

Maidenhead have A bit of a hellish start in the National League. After an opening day trip to Stockport they play Chesterfield then Hartlepool at home, then travel to Torquay, have Bromley at home and then they’re off to Yeovil. It amazes me how many clubs are part time in that league. Some effort ...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

BR0B0T United's first eleven genuinely looks dogshit.

Four players away from competing from top four

How much? £200m?

Will they trust Ole with that much?

Will they be able to attract 4 players of the calibre needed to mount a challenge?

Indeed. He’s got 3 to 4 years earning potential before retirement beckons and then it is likely he’ll be down to ”ordinary man’s” wages. He probably has a financial plan to pay off mortgage, put his kids through private school, lump into a pension scheme etc. etc. based on his contract at Reading. ...

Re: The womens world cup

Ok, after all this silly waffle, time for the truth. Despite the ultimate disappointment for England the tournament has been a huge success, illustrating the massive progress the game has made in the last few years. Skill, technique, goalkeeping, fitness, in fact, EVERYTHING has improved massively, ...

Re: The Non - League thread

Playing still? And btw, fair play to him, sticking around at the same club at that level for so long (you, of course being a supporter, might say otherwise). Can’t believe he will play at Merstham, who are 2 levels higher than Windsor I believe. He is a good guy and will be missed, but not so much ...

Re: VAR

I've gone into the VAR 'process' on here repeatedly so won't again but the time it takes can be massively reduced if it is used only based on strict protocols . But it won't be. It's use will be perpetually expanded, these things are always thin edges of a web. I remember when they first started ta...

Re: The womens world cup

The likes of Piers Morgan have to find something to be offended by every day of their lives.

What pathetic lives these people must lead.

Re: The womens world cup

Jeez, if a central defender is going to take a penalty the least they can do is give it a fcuking good whack.

Shame, but we were 2nd best in most departments.

Re: The womens world cup

The overall percentage of goals scored from penalties is now going to rocket because of VAR, and that will be a terrible outcome. More penalties awarded, fewer saved, and many of those that are saved will be retaken until they are converted. Whole training sessions will be based around aiming for th...

Re: U21 Euros

I think I’m getting a bit jaded. Watching this lot ping the ball around when there’s a bit of time and space, but then consistently losing it when they get anywhere near the penalty area is frustrating. They are playing like they think they are Man City whereas they just aren’t anywhere near that go...

Re: The womens world cup

Not sure what Rother was watching, but Duggan was brilliant - albeit 'Millie whatever' somewhat sums up RR's approach to the women's game, I fear. Agreed on Kirby though - she's a bit of a star of the women's game, in England at least, scored hatfuls for Reading and Chelsea, but she always seems on...

Re: The womens world cup

All the very blonde women except for Houghton were terrible,

Duggan, Millie whatever and Geeenwood, although her goal was excellent, hardly placed a pass to an England player.

Very shaky and I struggle to see us getting a result against Norway who looked excellent last night.

Re: VAR

I still think that there should be an element of "ref's call" with VAR. If you can't make a clear cut decision after a minute of watching slow motion replays from multiple angles then go with the on field decision. Just been announced that the PL will NOT be using VAR on keepers at penalt...

Re: VAR

They are getting into dangerous territory now. Imagine a WC Final decided by penalty shoot out. Strike, scored, Team A celebrates and the fans go wild. Uh oh, an attacker encroached by 6 inches. Retake required. Strike, saved, Team B go wild, but uh oh, the keeper was off the line by 2 inches. Retak...
