Re: 150th Anniversary Thread - 2021/22

As we were founded on Christmas Day 1871, I take it our Boxing Day match next year will be the big 150th anniversary game. Hopefully it will be a better spectacle than the travesty that was the 2-1 home defeat to Burton on our 500th Madejski Stadium game celebration.

Re: Rival Watch

May need to cast the net wider. Lots of potential for other teams to “join the pack”, there usually is one team from mid table who surge up Blackburn not had the season they’d hoped for after a strong start but wouldn’t rule them out Not sure Stoke have enough firepower to hit the top 6, lost a lot...

Re: Rival Watch

Refs are looking suspect every week this season. Bournemouth fans only right to feel aggrieved after their shocking red card decision today. Lovely stuff :D Swansea go 2-0 up at Barnsley. Poor officiating again - blatantly offside Looks like he might have just been onside, the one closest to the li...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Coventry City (h)

It will be interesting, Coventry only made a few changes to their FA Cup team so they might be fresher than us as our first team now hasn't played since the 2-1 win at Huddersfield 12 days ago.

Sheffield Wednesday can't fulfil their next 2 fixtures due to covid so Coventry will be nice and rested for Tuesday as well.

Re: Rumour - Cohen Bramall

I'm no expert on the pecking order of goalkeepers at the club but it seems to me that Southwood is only 2nd choice right now because he's had notably more development than Andresson or CBC, I would wager though that the club hold the latter two's potential in much higher regard. After his successful...

Re: Rival Watch

Welp, it will be interesting to see how results go, we can drop to 6th but no lower, I guess that makes Coventry the first team we play twice this season instead of Brentford, hopefully we can pay them back for them inflicting our first defeat of the season.

Re: Brentford game postponed

There will be an EFL investigation as is standard but I don't recall Brentford exactly struggling with injuries so I doubt there's anything suspect about it. If anything it's a major inconvenience for them as they will have an even more compact schedule since they are still in the FA Cup too. Meanwh...

Re: Rumour - Richards to Everton

Agree with what's said, no point taking a derisory sum now when Richards inclusion for the rest of the season could secure promotion. Only reason to sell now in that scenario is if he kicks up a fuss which I personally don't think he is the type of person for.

Re: Rumour - Richards to Everton

Its not significantly different to us getting Laurent last summer. Shit happens. Richards is younger and more talented, he would have commanded a significantly larger transfer fee if he was on a long contract than Laurent would have in the same scenario. Also if he had signed for and English club w...

Re: Rumour - Richards to Everton

Seen some of the reports on Twitter, would not be happy in the slightest and unlike what seems to be the majority opinion on Twitter, I wouldn't wish him well. We're getting mugged off by one of the biggest clubs in the world when we're already struggling to meet FFP.

It just feels shit.

Re: Rumour - Richards to Everton

I know the rules for English clubs signing overseas players have changed but what are the rules going the other way now ? Richards is a non international, non EU passport holder. What criteria would he need to meet to get a working visa to play for an EU club (if any) ? I did look this up yesterday...

Re: BFTC - Huddersfield

Yes, I think this is all true. You actually need a huge amount of resilience to survive as a professional footballer, because of the constant knock-backs and set-backs. Some days things will work, some days they won't, and often it's very small margins. To get through a season, let alone a career, ...
