Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

I could easily see tonight being our first tonking of the season. Between ol' wet lettuice wrists Stevens and at least one of Burns and Stickland, maybe both, likely to start, Stevenage will have a field day. Stevens is a huge worry Are Williams and Paudie definitely out? I’m expecting both to star...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

[Ruffles anorak :D ]...not sure which level you believe they ought to be at? : - they are now handily placed (4th) at STEP02 (beat Maidenhead 2-1 last night in the National South) - they have come a long way from Vase Runners-up in 06-07 - was the year the 'new' Wembley opened - they lost there in ...

link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=8I6sXSd0FUE Agree or disagree with him, you can’t fault his commitment to engagement and transparency. No mindless cliches there. Just a frank conversation. And lol at how much Dellor's burnt his bridge with the club. Glad you are able to l...

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

Isn't Josh Bowen responsible for this department at Reading FC....? Yes - but I don't think any of the players have been out longer than anticipated apart from maybe O'Conner. All these muscle injuries/fatigue have been caused at least partly by Hunt's training regime which he admitted himself was ...

andrew1957 Just ha ha. We wouldn’t have lost that game if Hunt had been in charge.

Same players, very similar system. Hunt's record was average. Quite likely we'd have been beaten

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

Anyone heard any updates on the progress of John Clarke? Always liked what I have seen (albeit not that much) Would love to see him play that left back role this season but he does appear to be made of bubbles. I spoke to him at one of the Unders games. He said he's hopeful of being back at Christm...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

Just out of interest what has he done right.? Not trying to be contrary, but in his first 6 months what’s he done right?. And I get all the steadying the ship financially, I’m not interested in all that, that’s a given and something any new owner would have done. I’m on about the day to day operati...

Re: Hunts gone

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cx2l0m355k3o Dellor's take on things - has a real problem with the new owners and the last paragraph is childish. In one breath he's bemoaning the lack of quality transfer activities and in the next, saying he's been unlucky with injuries. Both statemen...

Re: Hunts gone

It shouldn't be forgotten that Couhig isn't the only person with skin in the game. He's the chairman, but he has other investors who may be more impatient than him. It won't have been Couhig’s decision alone.

Re: England - the future....

Given how solid Elliott Anderson looks alongside Declan Rice, it's easy to imagine a situation where Adam Wharton reaches 25 years old without playing 20 times for England. Question for me though is why Tuchel might take Jordan Henderson to the World Cup, and not Wharton, as backup. Hope the Novemb...

Re: Poll: Should Noel Hunt be sacked?

I doubt we'll pay compensation for a manager, so I'd stick with Hunt until a manager becomes available that we feel might improve us and evaluate then. If ultimately we think Hunt is the right man for the job, then we carry on. In the meantime, results might start to improve, in which case, he's lik...

Re: MATCHWATCH : MK Dons (h)

It wasn’t a great watch really. As I said above it’s all very coach book. I don’t see a lot of individual thought, flair or bravery. Everyone goes into the positions they are meant to be and do what the book tells them to do. Which also makes it very easy to counter against Kyeweera added something...

Re: Club culture - are problems deeper than management?

It's the old turning round an oil tanker analogy, isn't it? The club's been a shambles for 12 years and there seems to be an expectation that Redwood will turn it around in 5 minutes. Staffing has been stripped to the bone, infrastructure has been left to rot, we have to rebuild trust with supplier...

Re: MATCHWATCH : West Ham United U21

Not a bad performance overall, but lacking a cutting edge, as expected without Marriott in the squad. Never really looked like scoring first half, sending off obviously helped, but we took advantage fairly well. Terrible penalty by Kelvin, followed by a belter of a penalty from MOM. Hopefully gives ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (a)

Hopefully we can start seeing this unnecessary and unwarranted negativity start to evaporate. One defeat in 6. 9 points from the last 6. 9 from 6 isn’t exactly amazing but definitely feels we’re getting into games more because we’re able to score regularly now Had and still have doubts and Marriott...

Former Arsenal defender Steve Morrow. Probably most well known for being dropped by Tony Adams whilst celebrating winning the league Cup, breaking his arm and causing him to miss the FA Cup final a few weeks later.

WestYorksRoyal We looked better after the subs, and I also think Savage has looked lost this season. I think we should start 4-2-3-1 at Stockport with Wing and Fraser, with Elliott or Doyle ahead.

Could not agree more!

Re: Hunt in

He changed his tactical approach while maintaining his philosophical approach. He created a more compact team by playing a higher line with three forwards to harry the opposition when they were in possession. Pressing in this way not only increases the opportunity to win the ball back high, but als...
