Re: Finance

Edit - I suppose that Brexit does give us the opportunity to create some new migration rules preventing players from leaving. How could any migration rules stop people from leaving ? It's the receiving country that have the sole jurisdiction on migration There are several historical and a few curre...

Re: Season Ticket Refund?

If players are expecting the club to honour their contracts 100% then why shouldn't fans expect all refunds/compensation legally entitled to them? Otherwise you have a situation where the poorest in society are subsidising the richest. Nothing bad is going to happen to the club if fans ask for their...

Re: Finance

its an odd one that 7k limit. I can see the benefits, but how does it work if a team gets relegated from the Premier, and a player is on 50k a week? Also, if any sort of normality is returned, nearly all players will be on 7k. Where is the motivation to push yourself for a bigger wage? Or will bonu...

Re: Finance

I did mention a wage cap earlier in this thread & someone said it was a stupid idea. Now the EFL are talking about it. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea after all...! I don’t think it’s the case that players will shoot off to other European leagues, as most likely wholesale changes to wage struct...

Re: Finance

If we have a £7k salary cap then Championship sides will find it almost impossible to keep hold of decent players. They will all insist on short-term contracts so they can move on to the PL or European leagues the moment they can raise some interest. Also, players will insist on strict relegation re...

Re: Finance

Personally, I'm not ok with cicumnavigating the rules, or running up ludicrous debt. Except we don’t have any meaningful debt (the sort that gets you wound up by HMRC) and we’ve not circumvented rules. If we had circumvented them we would be in trouble. We’ve found ways to organise our finances so ...

Re: Finance

I would make the following points. 1. The income that most teams can raise from normal Championship football activities is pretty low. Unless you are a 'big club', who can get large attendances and a lot of commercial income, your revenue is going to stay under £20m. 2. It's possible to get promoted...

Re: Finance

Moore being given a bumper contract for being refused permission to go to Brighton is looking absolutely insane now. How much must he be on? £30k a week? More? We could have got £8m for him, instead we've paid out how many to him? Mannone was reportedly on big money. Aluko will have been on a huge ...

Re: Finance

These sort of figures aren't that surprising in the Championship. Almost all of the league is losing money, and the bigger clubs pushing for promotion are losing fortunes. There's a podcast called 'Price of Football' where they've discussed this a few times. Our recent low attendances and pretty poo...

Re: Royal Elm Park

I have only ever parked at the Mad Stad once - for a league cup game - and it took over an hour to get out of the car park. I've either parked nearby and walked, gone to one of the pubs that run a football service or got dropped off. Not sure why it's an issue for the average person to park away fro...

All the mass deaths are under Tory Governments or Tory Leaders?

Hmm.

WWII was the Tories.

That's where it breaks down though as WWI and the subsequent flu were under the Liberals.

The Black Death was almost certainly Jeremy Corbyn's fault.

Definitely Dianne Abbots.

We play some good football, shame we can't convert it into more chances.

Nevermind - when does the season start up again? First weekend of August I guess? See you all then.

So we bounce right back AND Wigan prove that they are the in-form team right now.

Maybe not so much 'Bowen Out' after all . . . . . . . .

Re: Bowen Out.

This is the way I see it: You're sick so you go to the doctor. He gives you some medicine and tells you it takes 7 days to work. Day one of taking it you feel better. Day two you feel worse. Day three you throw the tablets in the bin and ask the doctor for something else. You then repeat that cycle ...

Re: Bowen Out.

If Bowen goes, what next? Surely it's time the focus is on the squad? We have been in this pattern for the last few seasons and a lot of the current squad have been part of the malaise. Manager comes in, form picks up, we look half decent at times, move up the table a bit then the player appear to ...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

So are we really just going to become one of those clubs who fires the manager every season to get a 5-6 game bump which allows us to avoid relegation? That's bad enough in the Premier League but just moronic in the Championship. Apart from the one Stam season, chopping and changing hasn't helped us...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (h) sponsored by Nicky Forster

Extremely disappointing to see us go backwards. Thought we played some decent football against Leeds and was expecting tonight to be a fairly straight-forward win. Though Miazga and Obita being out weakens us quiet a bit.

Re: No BFTG Leeds (A)?

I thought that we had a lot of fight in the first 30 mins. Defence and midfield were battling hard for every ball and were able to regularly supply the front men. However, their inability to convert possession into decent chances took its toll on team moral. Why bother if it doesn't look like you ar...

Re: Leeds (A) Saturday February 22nd

Btw, my post may have sounded like I was defending Leeds. Most certainly not; they're a vile, arrogant club. They believe that being a bigger club gives them a god given right to play in the Premier League; it doesn't. They sneer at supporters of smaller clubs. Well oxf*rd you all, I'm proud to sup...
