Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 24/25

European spots for English clubs next season... Champions League (6) Liverpool, Arsenal plus three of City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Villa, Forest plus one of United, Spurs Europa League (2 or 3)* Crystal Palace plus one of City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Villa, Forest Conference League (0 or 1 or 2)* Newcastl...

Re: New Kits 2019/20

Interesting* little kit nugget. We at the time of year when clubs wear their new kits for their last home game of the season (like Arsenal did, new threads look smart). But Liverpool won't be able to - as their deal with Nike runs out on 31st July. And so any new signings before then might also need...

Re: Weekend Football

Can't help wondering if the engraver let out a small, 'oh, fcuk' as he started the 'F' of F.C. and realised that isn't convention.

Re: Weekend Football

Fulham are a very nice last day opponent for City, even at Craven Cottage. I think Forest get the win they need. Newcastle win too. United show a couple of signs of life and get a draw at home to Villa, which gives Forest the final CL place.

City 71
Newcastle 69
Forest 68
Villa 67
Chelsea 66

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Yeah, Ranieri really does have that magic touch when he takes over struggling teams. I remember when he went to Leicester, nobody expected much, and then boom, Premier League title. With Roma, I’ve watched a few of their matches this season and the turnaround under him has been wild. It’s that stea...

Trent looking sulky after the Brighton game last night. Slot took him to the game as a sub and then brought Endo on at right-back. :o

Re: The generic transfer thread

Fabrizio says that Kerkez to Liverpool is only a matter of time. Could hardly find two more attacking 'backs' than Kerkez and Frimpong. Have to wonder if Slot's plan is a back three - in which case Liverpool need another top class CB - or if he sees Kerkez as more of an attacking player.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Ahead of their squad being dismantled this summer - a quirk of Leverkusen's brilliantness is that their three league defeats this season have all come at home. They are now unbeaten in 34 away league games, which is a German record, and stretches back to their defeat at Bochum on the last day of the...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

When Ranieri gets it right he gets it right in a big way. Since he took over (at the time) potentially relegation bound Roma they have won more points than any other team in the Serie A. He says he won't be there next season though. Back to retirement, until the next rescue call I suppose. Bit of a...

Re: Weekend Football

Indeed. Heard it from Liverpool fans after the 2-2 at Goodison. 'Limbs for a draw, their Cup final' etc. Erm, they've just scored a 96th minute leveller in the last ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, their last ever game under the lights.

You cannot. Let Lamine Yamal. Cut in. On his left.

That's three of these carbon copy goals in a month. Stunning finish.

Barca title-bound.

Football. Sigh. Terrific angle of Sunderland's late winner here. Camera runs into the chaos.

Re: The generic transfer thread

^Pretty unsurprising once it was known Real were interested. Shame to lose him from the PL, top class, excellent with the ball at his feet. Incredible trajectory in his career - he has played just 50 senior games, of which two for Spain. In other unsurprising transfer news - Federico Chiesa set to r...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Liverpool closing in on Jeremie Frimpong to replace TAA. The dismantaling of Leverkusen begins - they'll fall back down to 5th or 6th next season. Interested to see how Wirtz gets on at Bayerm (assuming thats where he goes). absolutely sensational player Various reporting that he is on his way to C...

Re: Weekend Football

Coventry's Milan van Ewick is known for his long throws. So for tonight's second leg in their play-off semi final, Sunderland have brought in their pitchside LED boards to shorten his available run-up. Cheeky.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

The celebrations at Basel with Xerdan Shaqiri going back to where he started out and winning the title with them are pretty special (apologies for lack of link, found on X). https://x.com/eurofootcom/status/1921857044195250265 And he carried them on his back, too. 18 goals and 20 assists, led the S...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world and he's not even 18. It's very hard to disagree with this. May the footballing gods that give out injuries just leave him the hell alone please. Few footballers make their international debut before turning 17, nevermind 18. Yamal has 19 caps, and will ...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 24/25

Would whoever wins be some kind of 'record' for the lowest domestically ranked CL qualifier? I vaguely recall that perhaps a team once qualified for Europe in the same season it got relegated - but can't think of a CL example. Ipswich got relegated from the PL in the early 00's but also got into th...

Is he good? Goes under the radar a bit. Obviously has some Champions League highlight reels, not least his double in injury time against City a couple of years back.
