Re: Finance

Are we currently reliant upon our owners to stay afloat? Definitely yes. Could we see a points deduction? Sounds likely. But are we turning a corner and putting this messy era behind us? So long as we can ride out the consequences, undoubtedly yes . I'm genuinely curious as to why you think that? I...

Re: What got you into supporting RFC?! And when you did who was your nearest team?

Robert Maxwell...well, sort of. I got into football, properly (as it actually paying attention to the football every Saturday) in the 1982/83 season. Growing up in Bracknell, nobody supported Reading. I don't mean that as in "hardly anyone". I mean absolutely nobody at all that I knew. Rea...

Re: Finance

Think one of our major problems is that we have a really big squad. We have 22 senior pros, not counting those out on loan, and counting Rinomhota but not Richards or Watson. It’s ridiculous - on any given match day we’re paying at least four players at least thousand pounds each to sit in the stan...

Jagermesiter1871 Looking forward to Kingsley being sold to the owners next year for £45million. Running out of things to sell after him though.

We can't sell Kingsley. Heart and soul of the club. Sell Queensley.

Will look a bit suspect selling Queensley for 45mil. Maybe 20.

...quid down the Oxford road?

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Leyton Orient away 1993/94. Feature on The Sunday Match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsaQMhb7JOk There was a textbook infiltration of the home end by a dozen or so miscreants at that game. They got led round the pitch to the away end before kick off leading to a lovely rendition of the, now sad...

Re: Finance

It's incredible that the club can spend so much and be so consistently terrible. Is it six seasons out of seven now that we've been in or near a relegation battle? Ultimately it's down to poor recruitment, buying overrated and unmotivated players for fees that are too high, and paying them over the ...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Yes. There is still ICU availability within the NHS at the moment which is a big positive. We are in surge and Italy appear to have peaked. Our hospitals don’t appear to be struggling to the same degree as Italy were a couple of weeks ago. A couple of grim weeks coming up but hopefully we will then...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Presumably we have been successful in flattening the curve - either that or our NHS is much better than we thought. We've been told the whole time we're 2 weeks behind Italy. Its been over 2 weeks since Italy first started having to triage patients and there were the horror stories coming out. This...

Re: Enjoying or hating the no football era?

It seems that it's the meeting up with friend and relatives that's the big problem. Reading about Singapore's approach, they really didn't care about people you'd passed in the street etc. It was just about people you'd spent time with. In pubs/restaurants, it seems you aren't hugely likely so infec...

Re: Enjoying or hating the no football era?

It will be a hell of a party when we get going again for sure, but thats still some way off. If it lasts a year or more, how many businesses in the entertainment/leisure industry will still exist after a year of no income? In two months time people will have had enough, and the only things that wil...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Just spotted that Singapore, after apparently being very successful in containing the virus, are now starting to ‘lockdown’ after a second surge Again, just shows by flattening that first curve, it’s not really solving anything long term what's being seen a lot in Asia is people returning from Euro...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Passed the million mark at 19:02 GMT Thursday April 2nd 1,000,018 Confirmed Cases, 51,354 Deaths, 37,000 Serious or Critical 19.63% of resolved cases were deaths In contrast, the Diamond Princess has 11 dead from 630 cases, 1.75% If you say that that figure is probably artificially high because of ...

As for no football, at the moment it's like the summer, only without a 30 page thread about what the new kit will be like.

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

I gladly would if I was not a key worker already. I am aged well over 60 and have recovered from life threatening cancers twice 3 and 17 years ago (and so am probably in a high risk group) but am working normally and so I am practising what I preach, as I am more at risk than those sitting at home....

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

karbota So do you still want open Borders?, the free movement of people?, mass immigration? over population?. Me thinks the times (and mood) are a changing.

What changes to our border policy would you like to see brought in that would have prevented this?

Re: Enjoying or hating the no football era?

We played games on consecutive days as recently as 1986, playing Boxing Day and the day after. I think we drew both, 2-2 v Birmingham at Elm Park on Boxing Day, and 1-1 at Brighton the day after.

What are we even talking about now? we are talking about you consistently spouting un- researched nonsense. educate yourself. the only reason most of you are even taking a stance is because you are shit scared of it hitting you directly. once it disappears the other de...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

But these are future debates. The idea that we should sacrifice half a million people to protect the economy is immoral and vile; I'm pretty sure we all know somebody vulnerable who would essentially be sentenced to death following that approach. Get a grip people. Well said Even if covoid takes ou...
