Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

I don't think that it's unreasonable for someone to criticise Shorey's conduct/performances in 07/08 - I seem to remember Brian McDermott referring to it in an interview when Shorey returned in 2012. I've no issue with a player wanting to move on - plenty of Reading players have been in that positi...

Re: League Cup 1st Round

For the first round, i would like somebody local two leagues below us to be played in front of a crowd of the 1500 people who remembered the fixture was on. For the second round, somebody we will play twice this season anyway, and have played 20 times in the last 10 years. I dont think we'll get to ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I think our defence requires the least work. We need to bring back Miazga (unlikely) or bring in AN other as first choice partner for Moore. But we have depth in the full back positions, while I think 2 of Holmes, McIntyre and Osho can provide cover (send one of them on loan). In midfield I think w...

Re: The League of 4

Yes. Still need 2 wins and tough games to come. Sure the players won’t be getting complacent In saying that Hull and Brentford are two big opportunities to seal safety Up to this point (where Rotherham have two home games and we have two away games) I wanted to be 4 or more points clear as we've de...

Re: The League of 4

I didnt like the look of those two home games for Rotherham, where we have two away games, but Derby did an almighty number on Rotherham yesterday and, in fairness, we've dome our part and got the points that we needed to do. Be mighty surprised if it isnt Championship football next year now.

Re: BFTG - PNE

I believe the whole thing about the team spirit is entirely down to the manager. He's come in from Day 1 with an infectious positivity, he's kind of put his arm around the squad and given them a fair crack, sussed out pretty quickly what needs changing, implemented changes and by and large they are...

Re: The League of 4

I know it's off topic - but it's a bit depressing watching the Sheffield derby to see Norwood and Hector considered the two best players on the pitch. Not to mention Billy Sharp . . . Hector is woefully inconsistent, just a slightly better Ilori, good riddance. Sharp wasn't good enough for us and N...

Re: The League of 4

We are reading posts in various topics every day of the battle between Reading and Rotherham because where we are at this season is about the same. I have just checked on two seasons ago when both in this division and we finished 62 (yes 62) points ahead of them and yet here we are going head-to-he...

Re: We are as good as down!

Really? Compared to Sunderland Barnsley, Burton, Reading, Bolton and Birmingham? Id say we're closer to the bottom this season because theres less shit to pad out below us. Despite Ian being obnoxious, I have to say I agree with him. The only reason we did not go down last season is because somehow...

Re: We are as good as down!

We are where we were a couple of months ago - still in a head to head with Rotherham. Bolton are the whipping boys. Every team in the league sees them as three points. Ipswich have had a few chances this year to start collecting points, and theyve failed every time. They look like a team resigned to...

Re: BFTG Sheffield United

I Remember loads on here used to castigate Norwood when he was playing for us. You need to be careful what you wish for. That's because, bar a few long range crackers, for the most part he was shit. Like most of the Sheffield United team he's a bit of a broken toy who has been brought in as a part ...

Re: BFTG - Blackburn

Pretty sure Gomes has already said we have a deal in place to make it a permanent move in the summer . Isnt that what they said about Glenn Murray and we ended up getting him fit for a better move for him? Thats the problem with loanees, if they play well, other clubs notice them. I would agree tha...

Re: Worth a flutter?

JR 33/1 at Bet 365 for Reading to win - surely ridiculous odds for a two horse race.

Well, its actually a three horse race.
I know its popular to wish Man United the worst of luck; but I cant remember an iota of form which suggests we're getting anywhere near anything out of this.

Re: Are we really going down this season

So a player like OShea. We're going to be his last worthwhile contract - we're going to have to pay off the whole lot his contract aren't we? McShane's also done nothing recently to suggest any sideways move is possible. Im not sure that what Gomes is saying is that we're going to sell these players...

Re: Are we really going down this season

Its all very well saying the players can go, but what is the process for making sure they do go? Or is this just another rebranding of Burns' deathrow 5?
