Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by hopeless at home

Old Man Andrews
Westwood52 Another biggest game of the season.

No.

The biggest game of the season is on Tuesday in the cup. We should be resting our entire first team tomorrow.

The entire first team took the day off on Wednesday, they don't need another rest

Re: Bowen Out.

I'd take a draw tomorrow tbh. Keep Barnsley 8 off us, and another small step to 50 points. Didnt realise our GD was so much better than those below us - worth an extra point

Re: Bowen Out.

hmm - not sure on that. Cardiff we had a very dodgy line up out, Hull would have been a dull but efficient 1-0 win had we not conceded a lucky equaliser (that was their first shot on target in the 2nd half), WBA we had an awful 20 mins but were ok otherwise against a strong team. Bristol sounds pret...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by hopeless at home

What do we know about Barnsley? Will they approach the game like Wigan (and therefore we will see a similar defeat) or are they more Leeds (slim defeat) or Sheff Wed (we won!) After last night is the idea to counteract the opposition or to try and play our own game (or somehow a mix of the two)? Th...

Re: Bowen Out.

If Bowen goes, what next? Surely it's time the focus is on the squad? We have been in this pattern for the last few seasons and a lot of the current squad have been part of the malaise. Manager comes in, form picks up, we look half decent at times, move up the table a bit then the player appear to ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (h) sponsored by Nicky Forster

Overall, without looking, I think we were 35 points from 22 before Leeds, now 35 from 24 = 1.45 ppg Take out those two purple patches and the other games are 13 points from 16 games Of COURSE what matters is the sum of games and I wouldn’t be mentioning this if the wins were sprinkled throughout th...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by hopeless at home

I'd make as many changes as possible. Rafael Yiadom -- Morrison -- Blackett - Richards Masika -- Rino -- Swift -- Olise Puscas -- Loader Moore out - that third Wigan goal was horrific, and you can't excuse Moore, our 'captain'. Deserves to be dropped after that. Shame we have too many defensive inj...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by hopeless at home

Bowen has to make changes for this. I’m really starting to dislike the Moore/Morrison pairing and surprised more people haven’t mentioned it. Cannot keep a clean sheet and constantly out battled. Would be much happier with Miazga However prob can’t change it due to injury Rino has to come back in. ...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

Obviously financially it would destroy us so I am not suggesting I want relegation to happen but in a scenario where it wouldn't financially impact us I would take it. We really do need to hit the reset button and start all over again and relegation would do that. Our owners have some cash, so prov...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

Right, so I thought perhaps I'd calm down overnight, but the opposite happened. Last night was diabolical, and here's my observations. Tactics: Where to start. Baldock was the only centre forward for 100% of the match last night. He's tiny, Wigan CB's are big. Wigan are sh*te, 3rd bottom and away f...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

was a little surprised to see we actually had a respectable 10 shots (4 on target) in the 2nd half.

I think we did improve after the subs, obvs from a very very low base. That first half was as bad as I've ever seen without a doubt

Snowball
Hound Tbf to them, I think Wigan have been very good. Surprisingly so

Had three of those gone in I think Bowen would be gone today

Can you get your stats machine in action again to tell me his overall record as manager here and then let me know if you think he still would have been sacked?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (h) sponsored by Nicky Forster

I think you missed the word “away” out when you talk about Bowen’s results records in such a positive manner. Couldn’t agree more about C1871 not covering themselves in glory last night, although it was a tough ask after our worst home performance in 2 years since Ipswich. However, Bowen’s home rec...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

In my opinion, Bowen shouldn’t be playing Araruna, if he knows he’s not up to it. Yes, he wants him to get used to the championship, but now is not the time. Well he doesn’t strike me as a Bowen type of player so my thoughts are that new Brazilian agent bloke signed him & there’s a clause in hi...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

We simply didn't give Wigan enough respect. At this stage of the season, things are a lot more even when sides right at the bottom want it more and that's what we saw last night. Ejaria was horrific - had no ideas when in attacking positions. Baldock the only one who seemed to have any desire to ge...

Re: Bowen Out.

Nothing would be achieved by sacking Bowen at this point in time and it won’t happen Was only two games ago there was a thread praising his ppg etc However every single person bar Olise who was involved in that Wigan game need to have a serious think about what happened there. It was a horrendous pe...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

Moore and Morrison are a big part of the problem. They cannot and never look like keeping a clean sheet. They are both poor distributing the ball which inevitably leads to it ending up back in the opposition possession. Both make plenty of mistakes as well. I like them both but it’s a massive proble...
