Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Actually I think I basically covered most of that in the post a few posts before that

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Just brought in too many signings and moved others on who we had connection with I think this is fair in the main, but worth considering how much of the summer was in our hands. We were down to seven pros at one point, right? We had to bring in signings, there’s a few players I think we should have...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Still sounds fairly encouraging. Hold Kelvin got a game and good to hear Duah did well.

Arsenals set up is about the best there is so no shame in the scoreline. Good we competed

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

This is the first year for 10 years or so that I haven’t been sitting in the ED stand. Has it always looked so empty? Does feel something isn’t working there with the family stand - it’s not ticket prices because they are very cheap. Are the club interacting well enough with local kids and schools ...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

I’d also add it’s perfectly reasonable to be critical of tactics, performances, results, selections without for one minute wanting the manager sacked now or anytime soon

I’m very interested to see what happens in the summer, that’ll certainly be when we get to see what LR wants the team to be

Re: Richardson out

I don't ever bother listening to the managers any more because they get asked the same shit questions every game and give the same boring answers. And it's almost always the same from the fans too... New manager - oo isn’t he fresh and interesting, telling it how it is... ...Few poor results later....

Re: Richardson out

I don’t really see him as dislikeable, seems alright to me. Don’t think he’s amazing but don’t see him as offensive either. Seen far worse Main failing with the style of play me is just most of our forwards are so unsuitable for it. Just lose every header seem to be on a hiding to nothing most of th...

Re: Richardson out

tidus_mi2 Eh, not happy with the performances, but a manager doesn't get sacked for poor performances unless you're like a Barca, Real or United.

After all this discourse, bet we go and smash Bradford now.

Haha bet we don’t :)

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

I’m not 100% sure what I think about the side but I do know I absolutely hate this ‘toxic’ culture that seems to have come in. Shouting abuse about Wing’s partner or ex players dads, the aggression towards the players, manager at any time, let alone after a draw away. Booing when you are 0-0 at ht. ...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

It’s a good question what we want to see. For me we stumbled across it last year half by luck and half by judgement I think. Basically had a couple of real characters, a manager who was generally popular, academy players coming through, half decent football, good results and hard working side. Proba...

Re: Richardson out

AthleticoSpizz Fair, but am yet to see it through your eyes.

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan for me ‘British blood on his hands’…..and knows nor cares anything about football

Not sure that’s an irrational hatred though. Perfectly reasonable

James Corden for me but again that’s pretty rational

Marriott nearly always plays the 90 doesn’t he? Don’t see him come off after say 65/70 very often.

Re: Managerial philosophy - is Richardson ultimately doomed?

We had an incredibly lucky Christmas period where we won many games we had no right to win. We are in a false position at the moment, and i expect us to finish around 12/15th Dunno. One thing I’ve really noticed this season is most strikers in the division can’t hit a cows arse and defences and kee...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (a)

Just seen the highlights and their goal. Wtaf was that? Where was the defence - like any of them? Horrific.

Had assumed it was some set piece or something

And I’ll add I fcuking called this from day 1. Said he wasn’t the right person to take us forward and was called everything under the sun. Well now look. Lots of fans are turning. People are calling for his head. Fans are staying away. I’m not saying this to gloat I’ve been a Reading fc fan for 35 ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (a)

Could it be the lack of Academy players in the side. Don't think any started today, Dorsett and Kelvin E came on We have less home grown backroom staff too ... Posted along these lines in tbe other thread. I’d swap a couple of wins to be watching some of the Academy lads in the side 100%. Two Kelvi...

Re: Managerial philosophy - is Richardson ultimately doomed?

I’ve really not enjoyed the football this season from the start. Not a dig at Couhig or anyone particular and obvs massively grateful there is still a club etc but… Days like today really make me pine for last season. Smith, Knibbs, Mbengue, Bindon - the academy lads coming through and playing plent...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (a)

We’re still on a very decent run, we’re right up in the play off mix. Mind you we’ve some tough games coming up We don’t seem to ever really try to get a couple of goals up do we? Wish we’d do that more - the best we’ve played all season was when we really turned the screw against Plymouth for 20 mi...
