Re: Rival Watch

I fully expect Bournemouth to be treated to some world class shithousery from Preston for the next half an hour now they are 2-0 up. 2-3 now. Hopefully they can hold on. They did! Thanks to some top class shithousery by Patrick Bauer, lovely stuff. Preston just a horrible team. Diving, cheating the...

Re: Rival Watch

Forest did look absolutely dire - more of the same please come Saturday. Funny how a number of teams who had play off aspirations pre lockdown and fell away have continued that trend in this new season aka Derby, Forest, Preston. Seems to be a fairly consistent pattern that teams who finished badly...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

I could see a way to better things under Clement. I only saw relegation and financial ruin at the end of Stam's reign. Him, Gourlay or whoever - very very dark times. 1 win in 18, dire football, blown the entire budget + plenty which we shouldn't have spent

makes me shudder thinking about it tbh

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

All I mean is the drop in xG was from 1.28 to 1.1.. And we actually, statistically speaking, looked better in season 2 with an overall xG improvement of .22. Stams first season xG had us at 19th. Al-Habsi saved us from that. The second season the same analysis had us at 17th. We were so good in the...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't Stam judged a bit unfairly due to the team vastly overperforming during his first season? Statistically speaking, when considering shots, shots on target, Shots against, the dreaded xG, possession, the whole shebang really we were only slightly worse off on al...

as i'm on the site....

Currently 10th by XG, and have the second most number of goals scored in our games at 2.93. So no wonder Sky keep putting us on :D

Its quite interesting to see the names on paper

Obvs we've no idea how good as coaches they actually are though. Some promising signs this season though

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

I think the main issue with Clarke and Fulham was that at the time they were pretty much same level as us. Would have really just been a sideways move, and obvs one whilst we were doing well at the time rightly or wrongly he was always on borrowed time after that unless we were being very successful...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

My mind must be playing tricks. Wasn’t McD’s diamond basically 4 Cms shoved in a midfield whilst Stam played 4-3-3 with 2 out and out wingers in G and Beerens? Both men used a variety of formations including 4-3-3. McDermott II is best remembered for the diamond but it was neither the main formatio...

Re: Ejaria`s body language.

Exactly. If the rest of his display hadn’t been a joyful, exuberant and hard working all round effort and more like his non-celebration then I’d be a bit worried

Re: January window

Joao is obviously brilliant and very integral to how we play, but if someone is offering £25m, I'm snapping their hand off and taking that shit to the bank. Same Puscas has improved, we've still got Meite, Olise, Ejaria etc chipping in and creating. We could easily bank £10m, find a replacement for...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

I’ll still defend Stam quite happily. Yes he made mistakes but he also did a lot right, got us playing great football in the Reading way and got results. I don’t blame him for the mess Gourlay got us into and a lot of the decline in the second season was out of his control. . Not sure you'll get to...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

And Stam signed Moore & Meite, the recent losing run shows how important those 2 are True - but the football we played under Stam was not "great" and absolutely not in the "Reading way". I think the view on Clarke is based slightly in hindsight on his subsequent successes. S...
