Re: Ex Royals

I may be misunderstanding but you seem to be suggesting Wellens was home grown ? He's been in the Academy for several years. More home grown than Long, whether he's as home grown as McIntyre doesn't really come into it. Rushesha basically came in as an academy graduate from another club at the edge...

tidus_mi2 Does anyone take Birmingham's 111 seriously though? Maybe once the context of how they won the league is lost and only the record remains.

How they did it doesn't really matter. It's the record.

And it was League 1 and not the Championship of course

Its a FL record, which includes both (and L2).

Re: Ex Royals

Just go with it. It's easier to just agree with him. Heaven forbid we could manage our own reasonable conversation, whether it involves a difference of opinion on 'home grown' or not, without you having a pop. Indeed, I wasn’t looking for an argument ! But Wellens was 20 when we signed him. The ori...

Re: Ex Royals

Certainly looks like he should have got more of Rushesha's midfield appearances. And probably Sackey's too. But then I think Sackey is younger, so had more time on his side, and Rushesha may have been seen as more utility. I get the feeling we're more willing to waste the time of a player like Rush...

I kinda hope they beat 106 just so people stop holding onto it in desperation rather than just accepting Birmingham took it. Does anyone take Birmingham's 111 seriously though? Re: Ex Royals

So while I do think there's been a lot of fuss about the quality of the new signings this Summer, Wellens strikes me as someone who never really got a chance yet in the small number of games I saw (EFL trophy admittedly) looked as good as players that were kept. Certainly looks like he should have ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

I appreciate we all see different things when we watch a game, and sometimes because we are aware of something we tend to look for it more, but I keep seeing it. He’s just rooted to the ground. He won’t even stretch out a leg for it. It stands out for me, because I have never seen a player behave a...

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

Richardson has been quite selective of who he provides updates on regarding injuries.....gave info on Marriott and Fraser last week but we've heard nothing on the likes of Elliott or Lane.....there's stuff on X that Elliott is off in Jan so maybe there are other issues there and we know Lane can be...

Re: Ex Royals

Looks like a bad decision releasing him, yet we kept other fringe first team former academy players who never play. He's not going to be playing ahead of Wing or Savage... or even really coming on for them. Would he be playing ahead of Doyle, Elliott, Fraser? Not really. Needed the move to play, an...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

Are you accusing me of being a racist Ian? Yes or No? Wind your neck in leon, I already answered that. By inferring I was unconsciously biased against black players? Otherwise why even mention it? I knew some dickhead would make a comment like that but it coming from the most opinionated and dogmat...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

Is that last bit is aimed at my comments? If so I’d like you to take it back please. My issue is he doesn’t win 50 50s when the ball is loose or chase down. It’s frustrating. To say I think black players are lazy is an unacceptable accusation. I think he’s a good player but not suited to what he’s ...

Re: Who should be starting LB/RB?

Current full backs are fine. Abrefa offers more going forward than Dorsett, but I think that's partially by design. You see Dorsett stay back with Williams and O'Connor in possession so we essentially become a back 3. Savage backs up Kyerewaa on the left, and Abrefa has licence to get forward on th...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

I think Kelvin is probably just too nice a person to play the target man, you have to a bit of git and get in the centre half's face and scrap. That's not his game, or apparently winning headers. He doesn't try for 50/50s and backs out of challenges, he's just way too polite. He's best with the bal...

Re: What to do with the troublesome AM role?

Interesting* to note Rinomhota came off the bench today and played higher up the pitch than both Savage and Wing. I wouldn't read anything into it. His play once on was pressing and defensive. It was a move to add fresh legs and see out the game with minimal disruption, not a like for like replacem...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

I do find it strange that people claim Kelvin is low effort He has his faults - wouldn’t say that was one of them. Well, he has a fairly laconic style. And he's not an all action run his heart out on lost causes type. Though he does put in a shift. Plus, he's black and there is that tendency for bl...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

In the anthropology of English football, few phenomena are as bleakly instructive as an away day at Blackpool. Scholars might classify it as a form of voluntary cultural punishment: a pilgrimage into a seaside town that appears to have been trapped in permanent architectural stasis since 1974, pres...
