Re: Rumour - Gareth Ainsworth

I assume that if it ever comes to having to negotiate compensation with a club whose manager you’ve just poached, it probably doesn’t help your case if you’ve gone on record several months earlier with your plan to do it. And whatever names Couhig had in mind in the summer doesn’t mean any of them ...

Re: Hunt out.

The other angle - that Selles made HUGE changes in his formations etc - that also doesn't hold up. I posted the interview where he literally states that he kept the same overall vision and tightened up in a few key areas. That also accompanied the squad 'changes' - Hutchison rendering himself perso...

Re: Royals TV Match Commentary; better or worse?

rabidbee I know, I was replying to Ian.

I'd still prefer to have ex-players/managers.

A fan's no different to many tbh. And people said one of the good things about Dellor was he was a fan. I did say in with a mix of ex-players and staff.

Re: Hunt out.

not so sure - get to mid October and we're still in trouble there will be serious questions getting asked. The owners aren't interested in sentimentality and a trip to L2 is not part of the plan. Relying on one player coming back and fixing everything is hardly a strategy. Hunt needs to show that h...

Re: England - the future....

Yes, and he will continue to score goals if we continue to play him. But we won’t win anything. I’m just asking the question as to whether there might be a way of shuffling the pack that would get more out of the collective resources at Tuchel’s disposal so we COULD potentially take that next step ...

Re: Rumour - Gareth Ainsworth

It seems unlikely seeing as Couhig has said he has targets should he need them and Ainsworth isn't one of them. Just lazy 'journalism'. So it is ok not to believe it when the owner says that we would have an amazing transfer window but to believe him when he says that Ainsworth isn't on his list? I...

Re: Changes In Football thread

I think I like it, would rather 1 longer break than 2 breaks so close to each other. Gives the international team more time together as well. Move it to August, before the season starts, and have the transfer window close at the end of it and then start the league season. Instead we’ll now get 2 Sa...

Re: Hunt in

Its not just you.... It is confusing... Someone asked a very pertinent question on here somewhere, which was, "what kind of goals are we looking to score?" Wing wonder goals, gifts from goalies, & worldies aren't sustainable.... I see this a lot, but to me, I think Hunt's aim is much ...

Re: Hunt out.

They've also said they want stability. Sacking the manager wouldn't be in line with that. He didn't change the manager for the entire time he was at Wycombe, albeit they were relatively successful and Ainsworth was there for many years before he turned up. Indeed, I think he will be kept. not so su...

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

Risky. That certainly seems to be a necessary part of having players capable of playing our high intensity press through the game, but injuries are the consequence. At the other end, we've seen what happens with a low intensity skills based approach where the players just can't play 90 minutes and g...

Re: Hunt in

Bold 1: There was a great interview with Ruben about his tactical and coaching 'vision' and, based on that interview, that first line really isn't true. He adapted, sure, but he clearly explained the continuity and how the 'new' tactics kept the essential parts of his approach. It's here: https://l...

Re: Ex Royals

Well, he chased the money and I guess he will judge if that was the right thing to do. Might be unemployed and unemployable now, in the eyes of some. But at least he has a healthy bank balance. Selles should get at least one more gig in L1 before he has to give up/leave country. Hell, if Gomes can ...

Re: Burns injury

Some how missed this - what happened with Burns? Also there was a one off comment on Twitter about Camara hobbling down the tunnel at the end of the game. Anyone know anything about this? Burns looked to have done something nasty to his knee falling in the box. They stretched it out and he carried ...

Re: Burns injury

Risky rushing O'Connor back, and he doesn’t have a lot of pace. But the experience and quality of him and Williams should give us a strong defence.

O'Connor being fit is the ideal.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

It's that third player that isn't working. When Elliott or Doyle plays well, so do Savage and Wing. Elliott has been poor the last two starts after looking incredible and changing the game against Bolton. Though better against Barnsley. Even when playing well, a hard press is always vulnerable to b...

Burns injury

Looked nasty and like he'd be out for some time. Which with O'Connor out is a worry, especially with the defence struggling. But... could this be a blessing in disguise given our defensive woes. Can't say I've seen it, but Dorsett is supposed to be one of the quickest sprinters at the club. He playe...

Re: Ex Royals

It`s being reported this morning that Selles is about to be relieved of his duties. Interesting article on BBC Sport site where their EFL pundit closes with: "Five games in, it's still salvageable. Seven, eight, nine, 10 games in, it's not, so I expect there to be a change in the near future.&...
