Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

Dare I say it but a lot of times tonight that looked like a version of Selles’ 4-2-2-2. Lane played centrally alongside Doyle when we had the ball or we pressed them at the back. DK played more like a foil for Kelvin E than a winger. From what I’ve seen Kelvin E wins a fair bit in the air but we nev...

Re: Poll: Recruitment

Very interesting. Do feel that RC wanted to change manager when he took over but, because NH did so well last season, didn't feel he could. He then probably didn't give him as much backroom support as he could have (or NH didn't ask for it?) resulting in NH not doing as well this season and resulti...

Re: Dai's final f*** you

Reading were sold in the middle on May. As much as I hate Dai, the poor recruitment over the summer was not down to him. Planning for recruitment will be ongoing from January. We couldn't even try to renew contracts of existing players until about June thanks to Dai's efforts. Had he sold 6 months ...

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

Isn't Josh Bowen responsible for this department at Reading FC....? Yes - but I don't think any of the players have been out longer than anticipated apart from maybe O'Conner. All these muscle injuries/fatigue have been caused at least partly by Hunt's training regime which he admitted himself was ...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Jota’s death must have some effect but they weren’t exactly convincing at the back end of last season. A lot of Liverpool fans do seem to struggle to admit just how much they miss Alexander-Arnold. In that set up he was like having a player and a half . The link with Saleh, the ability to switch pla...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

17 quid a ticket, don`t think they`ll be too many takers there, I think the club have shot themselves in the foot here. a tenner with no concessions would be far more realistic. Crazy, cut the price get as many fans in as possible Don’t know if it’s changed but in the FA Cup both sides have to agre...

Re: High press, front-footed, control the game

To my uneducated eye, the key thing about the press is making sure its properly coordinated and implemented in the right zones/at the right time... Under NH, this appeared to be missing and we sometimes pressed in such a haphazard way that energy was wasted and we were cut open by simple triangles ...

Re: CONFIRMED: Leam Richardson

Criticising Beattie and Schofield for their management record when they've been hired as coaches is pretty special. Not all coaches make good managers. Not succeeding as a manager doesn't make you a bad coach. Some people are just determined to be negative. And I would argue it actually shows them ...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

As I’ve posted before, and maybe I’m naive, but I assume at well-run clubs planning for the transfer window and identification of potential replacements should we lose key players would ideally begin long before the summer, but last year we were busy spending that time circling around the toilet. N...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

Well steadying the ship was 100% the most impt thing to do - must be joking if you think ‘any owner would have done that’ looking at the mess at certain clubs We made plenty of signings. Just not the right ones. Not Couhigs fault - JJ/Hunt/Carey must take responsibility there JJ is learning hopeful...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

If even the AI is accurate I’ve no particular issue with this. I think we’re way too lightweight at the moment, esp up front. But it’d need different players to come in from what we have currently This. I'd be concerned. We're 19th, with how many games until January when the window opens? A key cri...

Re: Poll: Should Noel Hunt be sacked?

Should have had another assist to his name for Marriott’s sitter on Saturday! He’s doing OK but agree he’s not quite had that spark as anticipated In order to get assists you need your teammates to get into good goal-scoring positions. Maybe his Crawley teammates were a lot better at doing that. Ma...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a)

Fortunately the relegation zone only counts for anything after 46 games have been played. So long as at that point we are 20th or above then there's "nothing to worry about". In fact, the team that finished 20th is effectively in the same situation as the team who loses the Play Off Final...

Re: MATCHWATCH : MK Dons (h)

Truly surprised how many people over on you know where are losing their shit because our kids couldn`t beat MKs kids convincingly. The whole MO over there is say something "controversial" early, stick to that line - in this case - Hunt is shit and must be sacked immediately - keep hold of...

Re: Hunt out.

Yeah, discussed this with Hound a bit. To me Ritchie hasn't actually created a lot, and at 36 hasn't convinced me he has the legs to start. Yes, he's go two assists, but to me those were all about experience and touch, making the best of someone else's creativity, rather than him creating something...

Re: Hunt out.

Prob a bit controversial but I do think reliance on Marriott is part of the issue. His all round play is of the level you need the other forwards to be very good - which they aren’t He’ll certainly score a few goals but that will come to an end at some point based on his career so far Of course pla...

Re: EXETER AWAY

Can’t help but feel the integrity of the lower leagues is badly affected by these stupid breaks. Why can’t all these weekends be kept domestically clear with clubs choosing to play or rearrange other fixtures from their calendars on the dates should they wish to do so? It’s actually a likely bonus ...
