Re: Port Vale Away

What a superb gesture. Port Vale's a bit of an underrated away day. Nice ground and the Bulls Head is a cracking Titanic pub. It was great in there last year. I'm not sure Port Vale have got this right, we contributed to their statue as the match was abandoned and their fans made the expensive trip...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

To state the bleeding obvious, to do well we just need to score one goal more than our opponents in most games. There’s lots of ways we could do that, no need to get hung up on a big goal-scorer. We could have a couple of top strikers, or we could have a bang average front line with the best defence...

Re: The idiots of Twitter thread

The transfer window lasts until the end of August, no? Still plenty of time to bring in a couple of players if we need to, even if it isn’t in time for the start of the season. At least if we lose Knibbs, it’s more on our terms - we don’t have to sell, we don’t have to accept low-ball offers, we can...

The Royal Forester On RFC's website go to matches and then match centre. Has a listen live option.

As with last week: “ERROR”.

Fortunately, there’s no embargo on BBC Sounds.

Re: Spurs friendly

We’re driving down to Cornwall today. Don’t suppose we’ll have an online commentary this week, will we? Presume you can listen to it via BBC Berks on the BBC Sounds app for free, or pay the club a fiver to listen to the same commentary on the Reading FC App courtesy of RoyalTV or both in an attempt...

It looks like there is but will cost a few quid

I was hoping it would be covered by my subscription, and not an extra.

Re: What % of fans would disappear if we went down the divisions

I wouldn’t put it down purely to fickleness. I’ve lived away from the area for almost 30 years, so it’s a long time since I could reasonably expect to do even most of the home games. But I had a ST during the seasons in the PL, because otherwise I expected to struggle to get tickets for any game.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday…. Club morals

Jackson Corner Well Brighton took some of our promising young players when we were struggling. Short memories

They paid us a fee, though, right? Rather than waiting gleefully on the sidelines for the players to cancel their contracts and leave for nothing.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday…. Club morals

Ah, as I read it, the club have 15 days after receiving a player's notice to make a payment and cancel the notice, so might need to wait a little longer yet.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday…. Club morals

Think the point is that if the players aren’t paid this month, they can hand in their notice and leave for free.

Ian wanted Brogue to post more information. Blame him. Any reasonable* person would have posted We're apparently interested in 19-year-old Chelsea midfielder Leo Castledine - one senior appearance in 2024 as a sub in the League Cup semi-final; two goals in 26 appearances on loan to Shrewsbury last ...

Forbury Lion
Snowflake Royal I'm not sure I really understand your post given we have signed a backup keeper already
rabidbee Give Forbes a break, he's still catching up on news from 2013.

Sorry, didn't get the news we'd signed a keeper

Might have to check my newsfeeds, clearly missing some updates.

Do yourself a favour, just skip over everything after May 2017, don't even bother.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

If you identify a need in a position, you sign a player when they’re available, doesn’t matter how negotiations for players in other positions are going. We don’t know the inside track. Maybe Steven’s was approached at the same time as other targets, but he was an easy signing - knows the area, mayb...

Ver Chooo Trophy draw We are in a group with Swindon and MK. U21 team to be confirmed tomorrow. Not sure which team we will play home or away yet. The draw for the Vertu Cup thing isn't until tomorrow at 2.30pm so either you're mystic Meg or perhaps telling porkies.... https://x.com/ReadingFC/statu...
