Re: Ex Players

He was fantastic under McDermott.

McDermott's team was full of hard working, well organised, physically strong, intellegent players but Kebe was the one who got you on your feet every time he got the ball.

Re: Ex Players

Adkins claims he feigned injury to engineer a move to Palace, Kebe claims he had a hamstring tweak.. Considering he had spent the previous 6 months out injured, I would imagine the truth lies somewhere between the 2, and in all likelihood, Kebe didn't see the value in potentially aggrivating an inju...

Re: England - the future....

Head of the Bulgarian FA (that's, sadly, ex-Reading keeper Bobby Mihaylov) has been told that he should quit his post immediately by the Bulgarian PM, following his comments pre-match about the 'unjust branding' directed at Bulgarian football and for allowing it to 'connect' with racism. Mihaylov i...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

3rd poor appointment in a row. Its a lack of ambition yet again. When we hired Adkins he was generally a sought after man. I suspect the same with Steve Clarke, and to a lesser extent Stam. What has changed? Have we given up going for the best candidate? Yeah, because the man who took us to a playo...

Re: The footballer gets arrested thread

He went for the Wayne Hennessey defence. It's a breach of FA rules and, as Liverpool have stated, a breach of their code of conduct. It's not that big a punishment, he'll miss 1 game which in all likelihood he wouldn't have started anyway. To be fair, a 16 year old not understanding why that is off...

Harvey Elliott's got a couple of weeks off, maybe they should get him to do the punditry for the Bulgaria game.

AthleticoSpizz Sooooo

who else was there?

Trevor Morley hat trick up the other end IIRC.

Unrelated but I swear I remember Trevor Morley scoring a penalty with his head. OK, it was a rebound but it was near the penalty spot and the ball was about 3 inches off the ground.

Re: Manager v luck etc

I don't really hold much sway with the whole luck thing. Better teams generate "luck" by controlling games and applying pressure, forcing the opponent into taking risks. Luck can play a part in individual games but not in the overall standard that a team is capable of achieving. Under Stam...

Re: Next Manager

Have you seen Sparky's record at his last 2 clubs ? You have to be joking. 5 wins from 27 at Soton - yep crap. 71 from 200 at Stoke - isnt that actually pretty impressive? We're talking Stoke here - in the Prem — And it's an almost identical win % to Pulis' second spell at Stoke and he had 2...

Re: Next Manager

I honestly think that if the new manager can sort out the defence, we have enough quality elsewhere for the rest will follow.

I think we'd be quite an attractive proposition, we've got a more than decent squad

Re: Next Manager

Mark Hughes' overall managerial record is steady if unspectacular but you have told take into account that he's generally managed smaller Premiership teams.

Tbf, I'd take steady and unspectacular at the moment.

Re: GOMES OUT!

I'm disappointed that he's been sacked, but not surprised. If he's lost the dressing room then it can only go one way. That's disapointing considering that the team spirit he instilled last season was crucial in us staying up but tactically we seem to have the same issues cropping up each week, and ...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Have either of them done that well though? Gerrard has finished 2nd in a two horse race and Lampard has landed a job way above his level of experience in the back of 1 season where he achieved the absolute bare minimum with a team bulked out with loaners. OK, I'm playing Devil's advocate slightly bu...
