Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Look forward, not backwards. Taking the emotion out of it, is he the sort of signing we'd be excited about? 3 - 4 years since he was at his best, 29 and not much scope to improve, couldn't get in a team that finished bottom. We know he has the sort of character we want, but I don't think there are ...

I wonder what's taking the likes of Abrefa, Dorsett and Ehibhatiomhan longer than Pereira. You won't get a better offer than Reading lads.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Pereira contract confirmed. 3 years. Great news. And also a vote of confidentiality in the project from an influential player which should convince others to sign up.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Academies bring in young talent, but it takes more than talent to make it. You need to be highly driven and competitive, and able to handle pressure. The stats don't really surprise me, it’s attritional at every age group. If you start at the U11s and skim off 20% each year, you'll see a very small ...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

I wonder with the signings if he's underestimating how long it takes to tie up the loose ends. Working in a job with lots of governance, I know first hand how even simple stuff can take ages to get through all the reviews, governance and sign offs; it makes me tear my hair out frequently. I wonder ...

Re: Rumour: Jonathan Tomkinson

We could really do with a Morrison style signing at CB, but I guess they could as easy turn out to be a Dann. I think we'll primarily focus on youth, but an experienced CB to go with the likes of Yiadom and Wing would really be beneficial. This guy sounds readier than our academy options, but not ma...

Finally done an interview with the official channel. A real breath of fresh air - let's hope the next couple of weeks go as he's suggesting and we go into next season with real excitement.

Re: England - the future....

The game Southgate will always regret is Italy. When we lost to Croatia, we were an inexperienced team who weren't ready. Against France in 2022, we matched a top side and lost out on fine margins that can go against you at that level. Last year, Spain were a class team who could well go on a streak...

Fake hoops latest name to be linked with Amadou Mbengue. https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-qpr-keen-on-reading-defender-mbengue#google_vignette Charlton, QPR, Preston and Watford apparently. We'll do well to keep him. All pretty badly run clubs right now who could easily get relegate...

Re: England - the future....

Just refreshing my comment as a reminder...... Tuchel is such a bad fit for this job...... Carsley would have been a better fit, continuing the England FC work Southgate started. They've gone for a big name instead of trusting the process. We can't just rely on getting good draws. Southgate's team ...

Re: England - the future....

No international side has ever won a World Cup with a foreign manager, and I think only Greece have done it in the Euros. Personally I think a Tuchel appointment will end in tears. Re: England - the future....

In the interest of balance, I should also say don't read into these games. Pointless to have friendlies at the end of a gruelling season and I doubt the players are up for it much. Senegal definitely wanted it a lot more which you wouldn't see at the WC.

Andorra was a bigger disgrace being honest.

Re: England - the future....

This is woeful. I already worry for Tuchel. He's meant to be a top manager, but he's yet another who is playing fantasy football with all these attacking midfielders instead of building a system. Drop some big names, get Wharton in as the missing piece, move on from busted flushes like Walker and He...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

Lots of communication and interaction which is good, but I feel like it's time we had some excitement on the playing side to back it up. Give us some good contract news and watch the anticipation for next season ratchet up.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Wonder how Brentford will do next season. Mbeumo is a big loss as well as Frank. They've been the model of a well run club, but the Premier League is ruthless. They need to get Frank's replacement right.

Re: Rumour- Chem Campbell permanent

Stevenage in poll position to sign him apparently. Cue the people that didn't want him anyway moaning that we can't compete with Stevenage. Tedious, isn't it? At least with the ownership situation there were legitimate grievances to complain about. Now it's literally pointless stuff. Probably the s...

Re: Rumour- Chem Campbell permanent

Mid Sussex Royal Stevenage in poll position to sign him apparently.

Suggests we couldn't give him assurances of a starting XI spot which must mean we have more ambitious targets.
