Re: Ex Royals

So I take it that these clubs are forced to select a starting XI with a certain number of players who played in the previous league game so the clubs try to get round it by subbing off a number of those particular starters as soon as possible? Another stupid competition none of the clubs must want ...

Re: Plymouth Argyle (A)

Great memories of Home Park, seeing us get back to 2-2 late on after being absolutely shite and then of course 05/06 which is one of the first games I really thought we had the chance to go all the way.

EDIT: I am not going to this one. Combo of £30 and Boxing Day enough to put me off!

Re: Stadium Matchday Upgrade

I get the impression that an awful lot of the infrastructure within the stadium has probably not been replaced since it was built. So, you can put new speakers in and have fancy radio microphones and all that stuff, but if the underlying hardware is outdated and not maintained it won't make it any b...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Rotherham United (h)

A really poor game yesterday, cementing us firmly in the lower third of League One. Contrast with the bluster and noise of a fireworks display at the end and I'm sure there's some parallels in there with the owner and his 'improvements' to various things.

Re: Ex Royals

Mid Sussex Royal
WestYorksRoyal Leandro Bacuna will captain Curacao at the world cup next year. Some achievement for them to qualify.

Obviously Steve Clarke will be there too.

And Clement - he's assistant manager of Brazil.

Shitbags reunion.

Re: Rumour - the Yak back

A few years back a mate of mine got shown around a house by Mick Gooding. Apparently he was really good with my mate's young daughter, asking her if she liked the house and about school and stuff in a genuine and non-patronising way. Left a lasting impression on his wife and daughter, which is nice...

Re: Bearwood

Do I remember correctly that the sale included the transfer of everything, and the announcement specifically included Bearwood? If so, could this simply be something unrelated to any of that and is maybe a claim to do with council tax or something similar? I am not au fait with what these announceme...

Re: Ex Royals

They would definitely have been told or at least had an idea what was coming when the points deductions happened. Must be hard to motivate a squad that's already got their heads down, knowing a win wouldn't get them any further. I always thought Pauno was a decent bloke doing his best and was very c...

Re: Ex Royals

I love Tyler but his time with us is finished.

I really hope he gets another Championship loan, where he can play and show what he's about at a higher level.

Re: Coca-deal signed

I think this is good, as it means we've managed to get Coca Cola to pay for 'exclusivity' within the ground when they arguably already had it. We still need to be making these kinds of commercial deals so I think it's good. The next target should be trying to get a sleeve sponsor but I don't know ho...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

I think it was overall quite promising last night. O'Connor was superb, and looks like he can play a bit as well. Williams was clearly struggling from about minute 50 onwards but battled on impressively. I'd be happy for that to be our CB partnership moving forwards. Wing getting further forward hel...

Re: Which team have we had the most memorable matches against?

West Ham immediately sprang to mind, as we so often seemed to memorably beat them. Those games in 11/12 had everything.

Sheff U as well, it felt for a few years that we were the best teams outside the Prem and every time we met it was a bit of a blockbuster.

Yeah I've seen a video of the top layer of plastic getting burned off, revealing a bright colour beneath. Or whatever the scientific process is. I am sure our seats are capable of that. I think they need to get the safe standing rails sorted sooner rather than later. I can see it becoming a require...

Re: What was the last player that you were gutted that left/sold

Players from the past couple of seasons were so popular and had such a great connection with the fans that it was sad when a lot of them left. Mbengue is a great example - they already absolutely love him at QPR and I think if he has a good couple of seasons there he has the capacity to move into th...

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

I think there's a time and place for more 'competitive' training, to give it a euphemistic name. Early in the season, if there's been a high turnover of players, I think you probably want to see players giving it a right go in training and competing for places in the team. Equally, if you're struggl...

Millsy Kebe.

Not a striker and didn't score 20+ but it's Kebe: he doesn't need stats to qualify for lists.

Re: Players at Reading who you had completely forgotten about

Saw Chris Armstrong mentioned. Player of Season 08-09 and revealed, after retiring, he'd been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in that season. Fondly remembered here. Yep, Armstrong was class that season. Very sad end to his career. I recall him coming back for a couple of games in the 10/11 seaso...
