Re: The generic transfer thread

Could be TAA vs Robertson next season in the Madrid derby as the Robertson could be about to join Atletico. Talking of Liverpool, some reports coming out of Italy are suggesting Napoli are up for a Osimhen/Nunez swap deal  Automatically stop listening when someone suggests a swap deal! Pure sh...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Winston Biscuit Pogback!

I was hoping we'd get a third go of buying him and then letting him go on a free to Juventus

Re: The generic transfer thread

Something like this, which is his 24/25 season vs. Lamine Yamal, and puts him in the same ballpark. Liverpool will want him to create - only Yamal and Salah created more chances last season. Given Wirtz's assets, I'm interested if Liverpool try to sign a 'proper' striker (notionally to replace Nune...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Having read Ian Grahame's book about Liverpool's approach to recruitment I feel fairly confident they know what they're doing these days, even if it is a massive wedge Plus it's going to upset Arsenal fans* I expect so that's a winner *What doesn't? I bought that book on your recommendation. Good r...

Re: The generic transfer thread

What sort of numbers is Wirtz gonna have to put up to be considered successful? With a 150M price tag it's gotta be high! Something like this, which is his 24/25 season vs. Lamine Yamal, and puts him in the same ballpark. Liverpool will want him to create - only Yamal and Salah created more chances...

Re: England - the future....

Our ranking is possibly somewhat inflated; beating relatively good teams (i.e. top 15) in tournaments adds points. Not really, the effect of a match depends quite heavily on two things. *(perceived) importance of game *gap between teams using the example of England being 4th and playing a team in 5...

Re: England - the future....

If you're talking about a time when we're ranked 4th in the world, arguments about who we 'should' beat become a little silly. All I was saying is that we were very fortunate with the draws. Our ranking is possibly somewhat inflated; beating relatively good teams (i.e. top 15) in tournaments adds p...

Re: England - the future....

Carsley would have been a better fit, continuing the England FC work Southgate started. They've gone for a big name instead of trusting the process. We can't just rely on getting good draws. Southgate's team usually got beat if we played against a higher-ranked team in the tournaments We beat Germa...

Re: England - the future....

No international side has ever won a World Cup with a foreign manager, and I think only Greece have done it in the Euros. Personally I think a Tuchel appointment will end in tears. Just refreshing my comment as a reminder...... Tuchel is such a bad fit for this job...... Carsley would have been a b...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Nah, he pretty much transformed British Cycling, a sport he fully understood, and deserves full credit for that. He's just been shite when branching out into other sports. Or he just happened to be in charge when a cohort of good riders came through (and then the questions about doping etc). In a s...

Re: Doing the 92

I get it's about 'half-empty modern souless bowls' and maybe rubbish football. But its just madness to put these sort of perfectly decent stadia at the bottom whilst choosing decrepit terraces, uncomfortable outdated stands and terrible sight lines at obsolescent stadia ahead of them. They have a c...

Port Vale's 150th anniversary kit Smart. Proper football kit. +1, it's so easy to make a great kit. Just keep it really simple. You don't need any of the other shite.
