Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

I was thinking of a graduate as someone who has completed the training rather than someone who happened to be part of it for a bit then moved on or got rejected !
Just spotted another couple of glaring omissions as neither Eze nor Gittens are listed - that’s £100 million of talent !

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Must admit I was thinking academy as in Scholars but of course it covers all ages I still think over the last few years we’ve had more than a couple of players per year break through and play good numbers of games. Need to find the entry level groups for the last decade and compare the names, althou...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

I wonder with the signings if he's underestimating how long it takes to tie up the loose ends. Working in a job with lots of governance, I know first hand how even simple stuff can take ages to get through all the reviews, governance and sign offs; it makes me tear my hair out frequently. I wonder ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Would be interesting to see the stats for our Academy, gut feel says we produce more 20+ game players but that may be way off. You would think a Cat 1 academy attached to a non PL club is going to push more players through.

Re: Team photo

Snowflake Royal Totally impractical, but would be nice to have a team photo from the open day with the team and staff. And then just a horde of STHs in the background.

Don’t see why that couldn’t work. Ideally you’d want a nice grassy bank for the STH to mass on.
I reckon it’s a great idea….

Re: Ex Royals

RFC Latest @RFCLatest · 15h If this transfer goes through we will receive part of a 5% solidarity payment for having Jamie Bynoe-Gittens at the club between the ages of 12-23. Would receive some of the €2.5m for his time at #ReadingFC That’s rather misleading ! The £2.5 million is split between the...

Re: Ex Royals

Borussia Dortmunds Bynoe-Gittens (Born in Reading) and at Reading from 2013-18 has just had an offer from Chelsea for 42 million!! I believe Reading got him on a youth contract from Chelsea. Don't suppose anyone inserted a sell on clause by any chance   https://hobnob.royals.org/forum/...

Re: Spaculation Lucas Bergstrom

Snowflake Royal I'm not sure on the doubting high wages if he's been at Chelsea 6 years.

He’s currently on zero wages though….

I suspect we’re in with a real chance as apparantly he made his youth debut for Chelsea against us. Pretty sold connection there….

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

H&P are now an online only brand, no clue where they’re actually based now though hopefully still somewhere in the Reading area. https://www.huntleyandpalmers.com/ Only clue on the website is a contact phone number with area code 01922 which is Walsall….. Wikipedia suggests the company using th...

Re: OFFISHAL CONFRIMATION of the CONFIMRED

It’s kinda strange there has been nothing official from the club about the new investment. Despite them announcing it on LinkedIn about a week or so ago. I would have thought there would have been some sort of statement Because it is subject to FL approval ? Possibly, but they posted it on LinkedIn...

Re: Charlie Savage to Wrexham

I think if we're offered £3m+ we take it. He's a great player with a lot of potential but if it gives us budget to sign 3-4 players to bulken up the squad including a couple of fullbacks and a forward to replace Sam Smith then I'm all for it. As long as he's the only player sold. It's silly money f...

Re: Pre Season games 2025/6

U21 v Basingstoke Town away Sat 26th July now an 11am kick off So a possibility of some players being involved in both or someone's going to try and attend all 3 Reading games (at least in part) on the same day. More likely coaching staff wanting too see both squads, or another game being played at...

Re: Incredible news about Roun Gorulay

Didn't realize he was put on gardening leave in June 2023. WBA books were in a hell of a mess apparently. Lost 34 million quid that financial year compared to 11 million the previous, and their turnover halved...... The man's a walking financial disaster. But you have to have something about you to...

Re: Rumour - 'Keeper Coach Tony Warner wanted by Wigan

Keeper coach always struck me as a really cushy number.
You’ve only got a couple of players to look after, job seems to mainly be kicking a few practice balls at them.
All for a 6 figure salary !

Re: Stadium Matchday Upgrade

I’d really like to see our history recognised with a statue or two outside the ground. I think SJM deserves one as does Coppell. It doesn’t need to be expensive and doesn’t need to be funded by the owners. But I’d like star to work with the club to get something sorted and we can have a fundraiser ...
