Re: Reading FC Womens World

Royals and Racers Keeper Cherry Preisner leaves the club.

And has joined Ascot (who won the division last year). Gutted Cherry has gone - best shot-stopper I've seen at the club, arguably only her height stops her playing further up the food chain. Also, her family are lovely to talk to on matchdays.

Re: The Non - League thread

Likely mentioned elsewhere, but Andy Carroll joining Dagenham continues his career path of clubs signing him and people going "sorry, they've signed THAT Andy Carroll?"

Re: Reading FC Womens World

All good stuff so far - cannot remember the club ever properly announcing friendlies, and they always seemed to be behind closed doors. And picking some decent local opposition as well - Farnham are the division below, but in all likelihood have a bigger budget than teams in Tier 4, so will definite...

Re: Womens euros 2025

Agree with the point about the vast distance between some of the teams - avoided the Spain v Portugal game last night on that basis. Tbf, not often I'm proved right quite so specacularly. Norway v Switzerland was enjoyable - gutted that the Swiss didn't win, and massively infuriated by Norway. To ha...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Really disappointed with the decision. Believe that given the circumstances, Pedro and Shelley did an excellent job, and truly feel that a full pre-season would have worked wonders for the team. Wouldn't have thought that, this early into owning the club, RC would be have "revitalizing the wome...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Re: Blackburn, feel sorry for the players, especially Rachel Dugdale and Tia Primmer, who both went through exactly the same drama with us the previous summer... Suppose one saving grace for Blackburn's players is that this decision has been made relatively early in the post-season (rather than on t...

Re: The phoenix club thread

Not exactly an apples for apples comparison, but when AFC Wimbledon started up, they had the initial meeting (am sure stuff took place behind the scenes) on 30 May 2002, had their first trials on 13 June 2002, and their first friendly on 10 July 2002. They started their league season in August 2002....

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Unless GCSE Maths has failed me, we're safe now, and will probably finish 8th (unless we win our last four and have results go our way to finish 7th). Between Selsey and Badshot Lea for bottom place - won't say relegation spot, as there always seems to be clubs dropping out at various levels, and on...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Huge three points (and another clean sheet), which effectively keeps them safe. Should have won by more, Dench and Bradley both hit the bar in the second half, so that when Badshot threw it forward late on, it got a little bit nervy. Thought Maya R did well on her debut, every time she picked the ba...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

It is currently, to all intents and purposes, a schoolgirl team playing adult football. Results are showing that. For a team that had zero pre-season, troubles with availability (and recently illness), this season hasn't been a surprise. However. Outwith the second half against Winchester, i can't r...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Possibly could/should have won by more, but a huge win anyway. Once again, a freak mishit cross gave them the lead, after that it was all Reading. Bradley and Gazjler caused Selsey problems all game with direct running, and the defence looked relatively calm. Midfield was the biggest shift, Levy pla...

Re: Players who started off terrible then got worse

Naseem Bashir Maybe a bit harsh given that he only played 3 games but distinctly remember him inexplicably missing a sitting duck open goal from 6 yards against Chester at the Tilehurst End. He was instantly hauled off and never played again. A name I had successfully forgotten till now, cheers. I ...

Ascot 1 Reading 0 36 mins H-T 1-0 2-0 56 mins 3-0 69 mins 4-0 75 mins 5-0 81 mins 6-0 87 mins F-T 6-0 There was also a missed Ascot penalty (given by the referee who didn't leave the centre-circle the entire game), and another good performance by Cherry in goal, could easily have been double-figure...
