Re: Back from the Bristol City Game

It was "one of those games" I was a few feet from the non-foul that gave Bristol the opportunity to cross for the goal. They did their job there and we didn't defend well. The second goal was the type that happen when it just ain't your day. But truth is they never looked like scoring (yes...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

Ian Royal what does minutes per goal have to do with what he said?

Honest question.

Well if you'd bothered to look you'd see that in that first season
Lita was more prolific than Doyle, and Long was averaging 1.5 goals per game!

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

First season in the Premiership it's clear that Lita and Doyle COULD play together.

One or other of them scored in 9 of the first seventeen games (where they both played) I clocked

Royal Lady Hi snowball/Shane - I noticed you were able to post on Saturday as you hadn't been picked for the squad.

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

[ Agreed, in 0506, didn't all our strikers get 12-18 goals or so? Lita didn't score the same sorts of goals as Kitson or Doyle, and vice versa. But we played in such a fluid way that one or the other wasn't wasted. It's certainly true that goals were spread out more goals-games-subs "games&quo...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

I On Lita, it's frustrating, because it should work. Lita is our one striker who likes the ball fed through to him to run on to, and has decent pace - and a very different player to Doyle, who is comfortable with the ball at feet, moving wide to pick it up etc. It should be perfect - effectively th...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

What's the problem with stats - I only read half of them (if that) but it is good to have a different form of analysis on the board. If you don't like them, can I suggest you just scan past. Stats can be very insightful, but they do not explain why something happens, just merely that it has happene...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

You appear to have completely failed to understand the bit about the TYPE of service Lita needs from Huntley's post. Balls through the middle for him to run off the shoulder of the defender, get onto and slot past the keeper. Not the service he is largely receiving whilst playing for us. If you put...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

So what you're saying is, the one time Lita got the type of service Huntley describes him needing he scored? Is that right? Rother: because there is nothing else in the post and they take up so much room contributing nothing. AND MISSED THIRTEEN OTHERS. Lita got goals at Norwich. This thread isn't ...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

I have consistently said our best pairing by a street is Doyle with Noel Hunt 24 goals Doyle-Hunt Partnership (26 games, once as sub, once off after 30 mins) 07 goals Doyle-Long Partnership (03 games, one 60 minutes, the rest as sub) 00 goals Doyle-Lita Partnership (06 games, once as sub.. Lita's o...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

The thread is about the fact that when he plays NO STRIKER SCORES and that's because he either (a) doesn't suit the way we play OR (b) he is extremely selfish and goes for goal rather than put a team-mate in OR (c) he's not good enough OR (d) something about him or the interaction between him and o...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

Congratulations on posting more stats which show that Lita hasn't scored many goals for Reading. On the basis of your successful week last week, where you provided 5 essays of information as to why City wouldn't beat us at home, I now look forward to Lita scoring 15 goals in the next game, and Doye...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

Dazzling stats, but it doesn't have any words in it to explain "Why Lita Doesn't Work"... True, I was going to title the thread, "Why Lita shouldn't play" The thread, of course should be "Why Lita-Doyle doesn't work, when Hunt-Doyle does." I was quite surprised to see ...

Re: Why Lita Doesn't Work

Those stats are straightforward When Lita and DOYLE play together, neither scores and the points per game are less than half they are when Doyle partners Hunt (and occasionally Long) The clown who says this is me arguing for Long is just a total prat. I have consistently said our best pairing by a s...

Re: Stephen Hunt is worse than Jimmy Kebe, Sign in

Hunt playing OK > Kebe playng OK because of Hunt's all-round game

But Kebe on top form > Hunt on top form any time for me

Anyone remember the fantastic run he made away to Cardiff and gave Doyle a simple side-foot in?

Re: HARPER IS SHIT.......

What's happened to Karacan? He looked very promising. He played in those two early defeats at Palace and Ipswich when I think we still had the relegation hangover but what strikes me is when we did start winning it was big-time with big scores 6-0, 4-0, 3-0, 3-1 and a 2-2 at Ipswich (there was a 5-1...

Re: Stephen Hunt is worse than Jimmy Kebe, Sign in

In a winning side rolling over the opposition S Hunt looks good and he makes up for his lack of pure skills with effort and guts although occasionally he goes into headless chicken mode But until Matejovsky came on he looked poor. I can't remember him having a worse 60-odd minutes. Have to say thoug...
