Re: BFTG - Sheffield

It really is something for a team without a manager to totally destroy Gomes tactically. We're a team with a fair sprinkling of young players, and one or two others known for being lightweight. It doesn't take a tactical genius to realise that being a bit physical and trying to pressure them into m...

Re: Where will we finish?

Anything above 22nd will be a bonus. There's an awful lot of hoping youth players can make the step up.

If we could get a striker in, I'd be a lot more confident.

Re: Gay Championship player about to go public....

Well thank you Ian (that’s the nicest thing that you have ever said to me in recent months  ) Right now...here we go......in defence of ‘Vic’ I have spent a few hours beholding in his company recently (and despite our political and footballing juxtapositions....he is nothing like the person t...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

I do have a hint of nerves, mainly because the ticket site doesn't seem sure where I've renewed or not.

My Loyalty Points details show I have.

If I choose "season tickets" from the menu under my name, it shows my seat with a status of "not renewed"

Re: VAR

One of the reasons it seems so negative as its most common use seems to be to disallow goals, or maybe to see saved penalties retaken. It's cancelling out moments of excitement. It's not really giving much. Goal-line technology is completely different. It's instant, and seems to resulting in goals b...

Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

the only thing that really matters is how good he is at his new role. Yep. I'd have thought his contact with the first team would be minimal to none, so there'd be little chance of any personal attitude, good or bad, having any significance. I just have to hope he does a good job picking out promis...

Re: Pre season tour

It looks like we will win a friendly this time around. Did we win any in 17/18 either? I know we didn’t last year but I’m pretty sure there was a lot of pessimism before that season started because of a poor pre season Seriously mate I absolutely cannot recall any of those friendlies. There was a r...

Re: VAR

I think it should be like cricket, where each team is allowed an appeal or two per game. If something has happened and the ref can't tell, then they can call for it, but at the moment it's being used too much. Half of the problem is the amount of time it takes to make a decision as well. It's farcic...

Re: Explain like I'm five: our FFP crisis

Zip until season 2017/18 is out of the three year FFP calculations money will be tight.

So, if we somehow survive this season, the situation should ease.

At the moment though, there are signs that we could be 2019/2020s Ipswich.

Re: Champions League & Europa League 2018/19

I’m no Spurs fan but I agree with him. (That said, I didn’t hear what he specifically said and yes, he is a bit of an irritating knob.) I appreciate the whole arm in unnatural position thing and that the laws of the game say.... etc. etc., but the penalty of a penalty being awarded after an acciden...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

I've no idea why accounts couldn't have been passed over automatically. It's a basic IT task. Really shoddy from the club. Not sure about "simple", system migrations can be a minefield - just ask TSB. If you are moving huge amounts of data, yes. If you are just setting up contact details ...

Re: Safe standing progress

I see Wolves are now installing Rail seating, believe Spurs have it in their new stadium, what chances of us bringing it in for the South stand as an experiment? Bugger all, the rake of the stadium is supposedly not compatible without some fairly heavy duty renovation iirc. The club is supposedly o...

paultheroyal Club will think they have softened the blow somewhat with at long last a decent home friendly lined up. Should be the biggest crowd we will have all season lol.

Probably Bournemouth, Brighton or Watford.

Re: The Non - League thread

Today's play-off finals

Salford 3-0 AFC Fylde
Warrington 2-3 King's Lynn
Met Police 2-3 Tonbridge Angels

Just 8049 at Wembley for Salford v Fylde, and Salford probably had nearly 3/4 of those.

Re: Berks and Bucks Senior Cup 2018/19

Very poor performance from Reading, sadly. Didn't really get going at all. It'll probably be a good learning experience, in terms of where it's a good idea to pass the ball around or try little stepovers, and where it's not. The frustrating thing is when they looked to get at Slough with pace, they...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell were horrific and can have no complaints. Need a bigger, more physical side and fitter defenders. Cheshunt had a 6'8 striker who killed them all game long. Impressive. I didn't think he was that good. He had height (and a lot of it), but that was about it. I thought the game was won in de...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell suffer stage fright and lose their final 0-3 at home to Cheshunt. I should have stayed away from Larges Lane and done Bracknell a favour. I am not their lucky charm. That's the 9th time I've seen Bracknell play there, and I've never seen them win. In fact I've only once seen them concede f...

don't like stats like that If you cut 2 years out in the middle and only then go so far back that Spurs only face 4 other 'big' teams then they have won loads of games!!!1!!1!! How many big teams would you expect them to have faced in 21 games? I file that alongside 'x is the top scorer in this cal...

Re: How not to win support for your cause

Those quick to jump on Rose miss his point entirely as to the amount of money in football - he was contextualising the triviality of the fine handed to them. To compound it, wasn't the fine for flares being set off, not the racism? The problem is that the old duffers who run the game really don't g...
