Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Next season it the centenary of our League membership, although I'm not sure how a 1920/21 revival kit of navy stripes with navy shorts would go down with the fans.

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

With RFC being 150 years old next year, surely the club should be erring towards an anniversary shirt. Preferably shirt sponsor free too. Will be the season after, Macron confirmed in their press release, when the partnership was announced, they were aware of the anniversary and will be producing a...

Re: Wigan in Administration

I've seen suggestions that it's more of a Zingarevich situation, with the money from the 'buyer' not arriving, and they are looking to sell again.

Re: Wigan in Administration

windermereROYAL They`ve not conceded a goal in seven games and top of the form table so can see them getting out of this.

...which is possibly why they've done it. Stay up, and wipe out a lot of debt in one move. It's a gamble, but possibly one worth taking.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (h) sponsored by end of season apathy

You can understand fans anger though. This isn't just a knee jerk reaction though......this has been going on for what seems to feel like an eternity to some of us. Maybe it's not the players?...This looks like a good strong squad to me so where is it going wrong? For me promoting internally was a ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (h) sponsored by end of season apathy

Brentford are every inch a premier league side, but that was pitiful from us. Bowen wasn't helped by a team that looks like they couldn't give the slightest toss , but he got everything wrong tonight. There HAS to be a Plan B w/out Joao fit and it CANNOT be 1 up front because we simply don't have a...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

This might be here already, but here's Steve Archibald's one game for Reading, v Huddersfield in 1992. He would have scored, had Trevor Senior not poked it over the line from about an inch out. Also, a Huddersfield player falls over taking a corner.

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

You can get extremely lucky with Cups and make it to the final whilst not being particularly good (Wimbledon, Milwall etc) While I agree with your point overall, I can never get why people maintain Wimbledon's win in '88 is one of the biggest cup upsets ever. They finished 7th in the first division...

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

If you want to talk individual games, I'd probably opt for Steve Francis at Ipswich on the last day on the 86/87 season. We only drew, but that was possibly the best goalkeeping display I've seen. Didn’t Steve win the player of the season that year and he only joined part of the way through 86/87 d...

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

A valiant mention must go to Kerry Dixon in 82/83.

In a terrible team, he hit 26 goals in 35 games. Had he not missed two months with injury, the odds are Reading would have stayed up.

Re: Any player you recall who virtually beat us on their own.

Jermaine Defoe destroyed us For Bournemouth at the end of the 2001 season, we’ll at least for the first half anyway. It took numerous tactical and positional changes to slow him down a touch. I still laugh at that one, there big away day, and they needed to win to make the play offs, and we managed...

Independent content creators would massively benefit on streaming and video services. There's absolutely tons of copyright abuse stifling creativity there with big rights owners taking revenue from them. Tom Scott has a pretty good video on why copyright law is horrendous given modern technology an...

Why would someone pay for said album when they could legally stream or download the song for free? The big winners would be the public, who could easily access old music for free without needing to worry about artificial scarcity. They do that already, with spotify. If ever a company was stealing a...

Musicians are highly skilled, often highly qualified, and usually not paid very much. The average income of a professional musician according to the UK Music report was £23k in 2019, against a national average of almost £30k. If a musician usually works in a function band playing covers, but has re...

Re: Dave Kitson`s plan to oust Gordon Taylor

He's done that with plenty of photos of him with white players as well. It was a running gag with him. I'm not saying its big or clever but I'd need something more than that to convince me he's definitely racist. Yep, it's one of those occasions where people choose to interpret something one way, d...
