Re: The generic transfer thread

Yes and he was only 16 at the time. Although he was never the quickest (especially after all the injuries) as a young lad playing junior football down here he was a flying machine, often played wide right. he was shite Hardly. A decent Premier League/England player. I am not sure how you assess a p...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Played both with and without it. Tenuously related, I was  to learn that Jamie Redknapp signed for Liverpool in the year after their last league win in 1989-90. Yes and he was only 16 at the time. Although he was never the quickest (especially after all the injuries) as a young lad playing j...

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

Your fullbacks are light years away from being good enough Wan Bissaka is an OK defender but no more than that and going forward, he’s simply useless. Don’t see the hype over Williams, seems a bit average to me Still, in the overall context of things, pretty meaningless, still in the CL next season...

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

If Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs aren't looking at Leipzig's centre back Upamecano then they really need to. Top defender. Heard his name mentioned a fair bit on Utd youtube channels...his wiki links us with him https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayot_Upamecano Can't rem why they said he wouldn't be avail...

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

LOL @ Neymar...... He isn't even in the same universe as Messi and Ronaldo, total show pony. Yeah, I’ve never really understood the full hype for him He’s a decent player, granted, but no where near as good as he thinks he is. I always think joining PSG as a “top player” is an easy get out clause a...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Odd, those United defenders. I'd put them alongside players like Sahko. Yes, they are very good (I'd argue at their peak, Smalling the best), but there is just something a little 'budget' about them. Yep, I rate all your CB's the same as Utd's bar VVD...Gomez hasn't had enough time to fcuk it up ye...

Re: The generic transfer thread

KWP looks to be a decent player, but £12m for a 23 year old defender with only 20 appearances, seems a little steep in "today's climate". Is the post-covid transfer fee crash a myth? Other than Sheff Utd's derisory bid for Swift, I've not really seen anything to suggest that transfer fees...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Werner had a release clause that effectively meant Chelsea have got him at half price (providing he replic8s form in the Prem)

Liverpool didn't have the funds available for this...and add in the established front three

will let your own particular bias decide the weights on those to factors

Re: The generic transfer thread

Not sure that Man Utd and Chelsea are improving as teams when all they are doing is signing attacking players. Both still are weak at the back IMHO and should probably concentrate on that area for new signings if they are going to bridge the enormous gap to Liverpool and City. As for Liverpool, mos...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Dear me, that's some pay deal. Can't help but feel like Liverpool have stood still so far this summer, with Chelsea and United improving quite obviously (and United's unbeaten run going under the radar a little). Stood still at a very high bar, of course - but there are a few rumours that Klopp doe...
