Re: Early expectations for next season

I'll be happy with challenging for the playoffs again. There's a lot to sort out at the club and rightly or wrongly, there will be a level of expectation we haven't faced in the past 2 years.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

I honestly think Wareham is the best forward to come out of the academy in over a decade. I don't think he's an out and out goalscorer but his overall game is strong for someone of his age. He looks miles ahead of where Sam Smith was at the same stage of his career.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

I think Carroll was just brought in because we could and it added another body to see us through til the end of the season and he was the best player available. A cheap and safe short term signing. Bodin made sense because we'd lost our top scorer and he has a half decent record at this level. He al...

Re: Low point of the Dai era

To be honest, it all went a bit Donald Trump. When you think it can't get any worse, something else pops up. Undoubtedly there were some very low points but it all felt like self parody and a bit unreal. There was a point about 4 years ago when people were saying "when we get x and y off the p...

It's more that he sounds like a robot reading an autocue. For someone who's been at the club for 20 years, you'd think he'd be a bit more animated.

Re: Ups & Downs 24/25

Such a contrast in final day excitement between divisions. In League One, the only 'live' result to be finalised is the final play-off spot, which will be taken either by Leyton Orient or Reading. In the Championship however, eight of the 12 matches have something riding on it, however tenuous. Bur...

Just seen TAA's farewell message. It looks and sounds like a hostage video.

Re: Record Watch 2024/25

To be honest, I'm not massively bothered about the record going because it in no way diminishes what the 2005/06 team achieved. TBH it does bother me, but I accept RFC has far bigger issues to resolve. I think I'm not that bothered because, although it meant a lot to us, it meant fcuk all to 99% of...

Re: Best/Worst Pundit

I had the horrible experience of once again having to listen to Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Savage on commentary. Rio in particular is extremely hard to like or listen to. Everything is about him and he talks in endless meaningless cliches. Like a Man United player will lose the ball and he'll say: &q...

I reckon they'll both get confused, revert to their Premier League levels and stink the place out.

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 24/25

Arsenal vs PSG Mindnumbingly dull. My dead Great Grandmother had more life in her than the Arsenal crowd who barely made a noise. It was hard to watch the game as it was endlessly stopped by the ref, with some really odd decisioons. The worst of which was a so-called foul that Saka committed on the...

Re: Best/Worst Pundit

Don’t think there is a single female football pundit I can stand. They are all awful and that’s not me being misogynistic I genuinely think they are awful because they are awful not because they are women. And I can prove I’m not misogynistic by heaping praise on the women who do the F1 punditry, w...

Re: Scottish premier league.

Not been true for a long while, it was reduced to 6,000 in 2005. St Mirren and Ross County have stadia with capacities under 10,000, as did Livingston last season.

In fact, no stadium above League 1 currently has a capacity under 6,000.

Re: why don't more people from Ethnic Minorities support Reading?

I reckon it's a mix of cultural influences and old prejudices about the makeup of football crowds. I also wonder if, that with the internet being an obvious point of entry, people like Arsenal Fans TV or Mark Goldbridge give the misguided impression that all football fans are a bunch of screaming, i...

He did that in response to abuse from the French fans in the stadium, which is fair enough in my book.
