Re: Tribunal findings today - West Ham to pay Sheff Utd £30m?

And I know that at the bottom of this column online there will be the inevitable posts that attribute my stance on the Tévez tribunal verdict to an allegiance to West Ham, but they miss the point. Your club scarf is handed in at the door in exchange for a press pass on your first day in this job. M...

Re: Tribunal findings today - West Ham to pay Sheff Utd £30m?

Responding to the Tévez tribunal verdict, Neil Warnock, the former Sheffield United manager, said that he had a relegation season on his CV that was not down to him. Warnock is in 22nd place in the Coca-Cola Championship with Crystal Palace, so it might have had more to do with him than he is letti...

Re: Tribunal findings today - West Ham to pay Sheff Utd £30m?

Didn't Sheff United field a weakened team at least once during the season? Maybe if they'd put out a full strength team they'd have gained enough points to stay up anyway. The panel can't really say what would have happened if Tevez hadn't played. Banning him part of the way through the season may w...

Jerry St Clair It is, if you will, the Sgt Pepper of goalkeeping saves.

I think thats a bit harsh on Banks, his save is not overrated or fuelled by drugs.

Re: The Official Will QPR sink or swim thread

Tomassi never seemed bothered about getting stuck in to me. He'll be fine with that aspect of it. Just think he's getting on a bit and the pace of the game may be too much his ageing knacked legs. So expect him to do well now.

What nationality is he now then? Never the same after his serious injury and must be knocking on a fair bit now.

Re: Man City will win the Premiership within 5 years...

If I was him I wouldn't want to hang around there as you know you are not really wanted. Totally agree with you but his agent really should have told him to keep quiet and not say anything in press conferences until he'd signed for someone else. He ended up not being able to stay at Madrid, Madrid ...

Re: Man City will win the Premiership within 5 years...

If his agent's job is to maximise the earnings of his client then he's done a damn good job for him in the circumstances. Thats probably what his agent thinks too, I'd say its as much to do with managing his overall career not just the cash. Even before the move he'd have earnt enough money to live...

I think you mean 3 clubs seems as Liverpool haven't really chased the title for a while and you've just written off Arsenal completely.

Don't think there's any doubt that Robinho has been badly represented by his agent. However once he'd said the stuff he had in public about his desire to leave Real Madrid and they refused to sell him to Chelsea he probably didn't have any other choice but to take the only other way out of Madrid.

Re: Paul Scholes

International tournament finals are generally held in hot and often humid conditions. Not a good combination for a ginger asthmatic. He's prolonged his club career by not playing internationals, fair play to him as I wouldn't enjoy playing on the left whilst Gerrard and Lampard get it all wrong in t...

Re: Joey Barton released from prison

Tandy was released by Manchester City after he broke his leg while playing on loan with a Danish club.

So nothing to do with his eye then, can't see this case lasting too long in court if it gets that far.

Re: Avram Grant

Is that why Hughes is one of the favourites to take over? Personally I'd love Hughsy at the Bridge. Is he? My bad, all I've seen is the usual Eriksson, Hiddink, Rijkaard etc type names banded around. I gree with you that Hughes would be a good choice. Not sure he'd want to work in that environment ...

Re: Avram Grant

Its a shame that the likes of Mark Hughes and David Moyes who do fantastic jobs at less fashionable clubs don't even get mentioned when the manager's job at a top 4 club is on offer.
