I'm pretty f*cked off at the whole situation too, but telling JM to f*ck off like that you're just showing yourself to be an ungrateful c**t. And you completely disregard what he's done for the club. I want him gone too but only to the right buyer, and not in such a f*cking ungrateful and aggressive way.

I'm not going to kiss his arse but I'm not going to call him a c*nt either.

Time to go John. Walk away with your head held high before you are forced out.

McGhee left because the tight arsed Chairman refused to give him £100k for Paul Williams. If JM's arse was any tighter, Michael Jackson would have been right up there!

And who exactly could possibly force him out exactly? He has a value on the club, which apparently is too high, but when it's met, he'll sell.

firstly, I have supported reading a since 92, when I lived down wilson rd, which is 3 mins walk from elm park, so the stupid comment about champ man and 4 years is out of order.

I was wrong with the joining up with oxford thing, apologies, I got my facts wrong on that occasion, due to wanting to stick up for SJM.

He is tight, but being tight is a good thing, being financially secure in the future, specially if we have not gone up and the prem parachute money runs out we will be happy, as we won't be in the position of coventry, barnsley, soton etc etc.

I will agree he has maybe lost the drive a little, and does want to leave.

But to be fair, he runs the club, he has no direct impact on the players and manager.

Yes he appointed BR, but he also brought us pardew, who gradually set us on the right track again, and also SC.

You talking for all of us now?

Tell me something. All this being tight is good crap, how good is it that we could very well follow Southampton to League 1 this season and be back exactly where we started when John Madejski came here? Nicer stadium and facilities, but same shitty standard of football. Also, how on earth can you not be the littlest bit pissed that we finished 8th in the Premiership not three years ago, and have gone backwards at an alarming rate ever since because JM would not invest?

And you think just because Reading will have a stable financial status we will all be happy?

first deathy,

no money club dies-no one happy

money, club lower division but in business- reading still have the loyal fans.

Now I saw us in the old div 2, and we nearly went down with burns again.

I dont want to see that, and we have progressed amazingly since then, with sjm at the fore front.

We have invested, in an academy, with alot of those players now in the side, which is why we have spent alot on that academy!

that is investment!

I dont know if these lads will be any good, no one dooes at the minute.

But we do need more experience, and some investment on new players, and THE MONEY IS THERE, but we wont pay over the odds.

smith isnt great, and you look at recent deals like hunt, doyle etc, where we have ended up making alot of money because they were cheaper, but great readings players.

this reads like a list of complaints my other half left out for me in the kitchen.

and it makes about as much sense.

im particularly enamoured with the 'cheaper, but great reading players' bit.

I think you're being a tad harsh there, reads more to me like one of the more inscrutable verses from the I Ching like e.g.

Change, return, success
going and coming without error
action brings good fortune
sunrise, sunset.

Hmm, I wonder if BR has been at the I Ching...

If the people on here criticizing JM were Billionaires who were prepared to subsidize the club but who JM had refused to sell to at any price I could understand the level of vitriol being spewed.

I’m guessing however that this is probably not the case.

So I’m at a loss as to why we should demand that JM contributes more of his own funds or to take more risks with his business. JM has decided that Reading FC must function as a normal company and live within its means.

For years people have demanded that Academy players be given more of a chance and a move to this approach is always going to carry some risk. We are going through a bad patch but it is still very early days for this change in strategy. Our massive over-achievement in recent years seems to have raised expectations to the point where patience has ceased to be a virtue.

I have little doubt that we will shortly actually win a game and that this will then prompt the assumption that we are destined for promotion once again, until the next loss….

JM's only weakness was that he isn't a football fan.

Without him Reading FC probably wouldn't exist..........or not in the form or status it has now.

However, his time here is coming to an end.

Let's hope the next one (chairman) is half as good.

Shoey you are right to be loyal however please if you will allow me to explain a few points...

No-one can argue the facts and say that Sir John 'Mad'ejski hasn’t given so much to this club over the years, it is true that without him we probably wouldn’t be where we are with a recent 5 year run of success.....

However let me get a few things off my chest and I know im not alone in my thoughts. If SJM wanted to sell RFC then please tell me why he didn’t do it after our Premiership stint (I understand he always said all he wants is 1 year in the Prem for his own achievements) he would have received the full money he was after and would have been able to go down unblemished with the full support of us all. Looking at it really, when has he really put Reading on sale????

Anyway, ignoring the fact that he does / doesn’t want to sell, what seriously do you think about our transfer activity over the past 2 years? I have heard a lot of people cursing BR already but doesn’t the recent activity over TS show who really is in control of the bench. He cannot be serious about taking this football club forward when he fannys around over .5 million.

I know a lot of people have already commented on the sales of Bikey, Doyle, & SHunt but it is a really good point. We have just taken collection of 12 million +, lost a brilliant player in L Lita FOR FREE when we had offers of 5 million when we were in the prem and shed the wage bill further with the departure of USA, Duberry, Murt's. SJM doesn’t seem to be reinvesting back after loosing some of the best players this club has ever owned!!!!!!!!!

As for stadium expansion, that’s the biggest fecking joke in the world. We have been talking about these plans for bloody years and yet we are struggling to fill what we have already got. People have had enough.

As a fan cant you understand why we are all getting pissed off??

As a fan we want to look forward not backwards otherwise at this rate this is exactly where we will be heading. I don’t care what SJM has done for us in the past, if he’s the one to send us right back to where he picked us from, it really would be the biggest dick tease to every fan who has supported the club through thick & thin.

Don’t forget as well that it is the likes of you and me that put the money into the pot in the first place - I sympathise with people who want to see something for there money instead of leaving players and appalling results!

Rock on Sheik Myhand        :!: :!: :!:

North Somerset Royal JM is a businessman. Nothing wrong in that but please dont laud him as some sort of folk hero.

Oi! Where did you dig up my posts from the 1996 Royal Mail BB from ???

I am not blind, I see both sides of view, but considering where SJM, has taken us, from where we were, I think that should be taken into account.
This one man has done so much for Reading, as a club and town.
It's seems very easy to just forget all that.
He, for me, making sure we have the funds in place, so if we do not go up, we do not go bust.

Like someone else said, a hell of alot of people wanted the academy kids in the team, they got it. They wanted SC gone, they got it. They wanted players like S Hunt gone, they got it.
Although I dont have much faith in the new manager and team, I do understand it is a transitional period.
As far as I am concerned SJM has done everything th fans have wanted this summer really, apart from spend a ton of cash.
Spending cash also won't grant success for sure.

And the stadium not being full, well we know thats because the glory hunters are going.

no one can doubt that sir john has done wonders for the club and it will be hard for someone to top that however everything comes to an end and i think his reign should finish asap. he says he wont sell until the club are back in the prem well he will be waiting a long time the way we are going. If we were actually ACTIVELY looking for potential investment i am sure we would have some interest.

Anyone know when the programme concerning sr john airs on bbc4?
