Svlad Cjelli I'll be the first to admit I've never warmed to Federici - he's always struck me as much too much "I am, I am, look at me" and much more of an individual player than a team player. Perhaps I just naturally hate arrogance, but he's always rubbed me up the wrong way from day one.

And when you consider that after all the clubs he trawled round looking for a break it was Reading who took the risk on him, a little more humility would seem to be in order, IMHO.

Excellent - now we're having a go at players who show ambition.......

Know your place Federici, it's the Reading way.

Nowt wrong showing ambition - if players didn't show ambition they'd never be able to make it in the game.

Kevin Doyle had ambition, but he quietly went about things behind the scenes, in a totally professional way. And when he moved away, everyone wished him well and still thinks fondly of him.

Compare and contrast with someone running to SSN and putting themselves in the shop window publicly.

Maybe.

But then given the club's actions (or lack of) this summer, nobody can really blame him for putting himself in as many shop windows as he can.

Tbf the Mills and Feds things have at least got people talking about where we should be going as a team.

So that's a good thing at least.

IMO the Mills and Federici situations are quite different.

Fed wants PL football to further his Australia ambitions and I cannot blame him. He also knows we are strong in that area and we have ready replacements.

Mills on the other hand has taken a sideways move for money alone - as there are no 100% certainties that Leicester will go up.

FFS how many more times? No player moves for money alone. Mills has made a judgement to move because he feels Leicester
have a better chance of promotion than us and that they want that ambition to be fulfilled more than we do.Look at him on the pitch he's certainly not the sort of guy who's happy when his team loses.
Of course there is no guarantee that Leicester will go up. There is also no guarantee that Reading will keep getting away with their selling policy forever.

Of course they do. Go back and find Assou-Ekotto's interview from last year if you don't believe it.

Ideal Can someone please just pay us some money for Federici, so that we can put our better keeper in goal..

This! McCarthy is already better than Feds.

He clearly has looked back at Nicky Shorey and his behaviour instead of watching Steve Sidwell and Kevin Doyle. All were helped by RFC but only 2 out of 3 would be welcome back here

No problem with Feds wanting to go to a Prem club, no problem with him wanting to better himself beyond us. No problem with him trying to actively court a move. On SSN? That's just insulting. He's no great loss and he can piss off.

Some things should be done out of the public limelight. My guess is he's only doing this because he's getting no interest at all and it's desperation. He's a good keeper, who can produce brilliance, but he simply isn't good enough to be bought as a first choice Premier League Keeper, not for the price we'd want. And very very few PL clubs are going to pay as much as wed want for him, so he could sit on the bench, the ones who can, can buy better.

Sadly it the potentially brillz McCarthy and Andersen, along with us, who will suffer as we'll quite probably still have Fed at number 1 next season.

Didn't say that money isn't a factor I said no player moves for money ALONE.

If Spurs win a match, qualify for the CL or win a trophy then Assou-Ekotto gets something called a bonus. For that he needs a club with ambition, a club who want to win so that he can maximise his earning potential. Maybe if he puts in very good performances he can attract interest from a club who want to win the league or the CL which means more money.

I'm worried that I haven't explained this well enough, maybe I used too many words and you got lost in the shuffle so I'm going to Hoop Blah it. Here are some visual aids just for you Mr Blah:
Assou Ekotto

Wants

A club

with

to

So he wants to win

Unless of course club X is willing to pay him more than he could earn through bonuses etc without even having to play let alone win.

Even in your example of Spurs, so eluquently put, he's moved there for earnings not because they are going to win by virtue of their ambition. The perceived ambition or their potential for winning is only a factor in how much he'll be able to earn so ultimately he's moving purely for the money.

I think I read/heard that Fulham signed a keeper yesterday.

They were one of the clubs showing an interest in Federici last season so another of his potential buyers presumably chalked off (it might be a different story if they have to sell Stockdale if he's got unsettled).

It's probably a case of Feds agent just talking shit to big up interest in his player and there isn't any. He wouldn't cost much, surely? £1.5m feels too much to me.

Anyone want him? Anyone?

I'd heard of Fulhams interest in Federici through another source, not the media, and think there was certainly something in it at the time.

This was about the time that Wenger was looking to take Schwarzer to Arsenal.

I do wonder if Federici has missed the boat.
