Focher only 1 game has really got to me in 25 years, Walsall play off final 2001.

The rest, its only a game.

Bolton play off final for me. Anything before or since pales into insignificance.

1995 play-off final - that's the only one that *still* hurts

I enjoyed Saturday's game :? - but that's partly because I don't go to many so it's still a big occasion, and I had a seat low down near the pitch so could almost yell out a marriage proposal to Jimmy

Walsall P/O Final for all the above reasons.

The other one that really got to me was the 1-0 defeat by Norwich in the final league game at Elm Park. We were so shit we couldn't even raise our game for that one day.

And for me.

It's because we're older AJD.

Although that Wimbledon match which we lost 3-0 at home (Boxing Day 2003 ?) made me wonder what on earth I was doing watching the pcunts.

If we are allowed to do play offs this is the most galling few hours of my life to date.

One quite random one that sticks out for me was Coventry at home in 04/05. We lost 1-2. We were on a terrible run and slipping away from the play-off places after being in an automatic spot around Christmas IIRC. It was an awful display, the first and only time I have ever booed at the end of a RFC game.

Either 81 or 82 a 3-0 home defeat to Fulham on a miserable Wednesday evening, not so much the match just that because of a train strike I had got a taxi from Portsmouth to the game and then back again and it just seemed like a complete waste of money.

I can't remember the exact game but Tommy Burns was the manager and the players were unmotivated and beaten before they took to the pitch.

Villa loss in the cup was the worst I've felt. Genuinely took me about a fortnight to get over that.

End of 97/98 season was a very empty feeling but the worst has to be after playing at Wembley in 1995. I guess it's because the 2-0 lead and penalty for Archie 'inflated' things making the feeling of deflation after defeat so much more pronounced.

Charlton 2-1 away in the Weewater Cup on 23/8/11........

No, but really: Reading 0 Port Vale 3 in season 97/98. There's inept and then there's inept.

Good call. During our run of 3 consecutive 3-0 losses IIRC.

I bought a couple of mates to that game. One of them made the telling comment "They [Wimbledon] are shit. And they're stuffing you." laughing like the fat bloke in Sliding Doors.

Saturday, after the Barnsley game. I felt dejected to think I have another 22 long-ball spaff-fests to endure.

Can't remember the game but listening to sports report in the car on the way home, that the FL had agreed to merge Reading and Oxford. No Sky or even teletext in those days had to wait till Mondays Post to have it confirmed. As much as we moan at the moment at least we have a team to moan about.
