FA Cup

1) How much do people care?
2) How far do you expect us to go this year?

Anything less than quarter finals will obviously be regarded as failure for me, and if Brian doesn't live up to his word of going one step further than last year, I will be disappointed as well.

Didn't care too much about the cup before the last 2 seasons, now im quite excited by it.
I disagree that it would be a failure not to reach the quarter finals, I think anything past the 5th round would be an over-achievement (as were the last 2 seasons)
This season I predict we will reach the 5th round - im going for a punt and predict we will pick up Swansea along the way!

I do enjoy the FA Cup, love the away days to be honest, hope we get a good one if we get past Stevenage.

Would be extremely nice to go further than last year but I think it will need a considerable amount of luck with the draw and what not. I think if we had drawn Bolton or Stoke, instead of Man City, we could have gone all the way last year.

If we get knocked out by a top Premiership club in the next round I won't be too fussed. Happens to a lot of clubs, would be gutted if we were knocked out to lower opposition though, probably Charlton excepted as they are flying!

So if we draw Man City away next round you will regard it as a failure when we don't beat them and not reach the semi?

Absolutely. If we don't make at least the Quarter Finals, then we're going backwards, and I think everyone at the club, especially the management team, will have to take a long hard look at themselves.

didnt used to care about the fa cup that much. always took the attitude that the league was more important and we should use the fa cup to give match fitness and experience to the youngsters and fringe players

but the last couple of seasons has changed my mind. i now look forward to the cup ties as we seem to genuinely pose a threat to any team we are drawn against and even if we lose its no biggie as we are only 'little old reading' and we can then focus on a play off push!

im only expecting us to be stevenage tomorrow. dont see the point in setting a specific round as a target as we could easily be drawn at man city in the next round. completely unpredictable tournament for us and i just enjoy it while it lasts!

Care

Our position in the football pyramid suggest last 32 is where we should be, the vagaries of an unseeded draw mean closer to last 16 might be about right. Because of this anyone who genuinely believes (I'm sure the post above was sarcastic) that the last 2 years haven't been a massive overachievement and failure to reach the quarters this year is a disaster is a bit of a bellend. Not that it wouldn't be fantastic to continue exceeding expectations

Two quarter finals in a row, if we only make the last 8 again we are standing still as a club and everyone knows that standing still in football is as bad if not worse than going backwards. So semi final for me, anything less and I'll be gutted.

A hyperthetical question I know but should we be drawn away to Man City in round 4. And you believe it to be a complete failure if we fail to win. How do you propose we go out and beat the worlds richest football club that has won every home game this season and not lost at home for 18 months?

Love the competition.

Just got a slight feeling that we might get done over tomorrow, really hope I'm wrong though.

Those who doesn't care about the FA Cup after the results and matches we've had over the last two seasons, are surely dead inside.
