Team for villa

by howser » 07 Mar 2013 23:47

Haven't seen one of these yet, well, no doubt Mcdermott is fully aware of the outstanding attacking ability of Villa and will pick ultra cautious team, maybe something like this,
--------------------------------------------------------------- Taylor----------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------Mariappa-------------------------------Pearce----------------------------------

---Kelly-----------------Cummings---------------Morrison--------------Guthrie------------Shorey----------------Harte-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------HRK---------------Le Fondre-----------------------------------------

Subs:- henly, Caricco, Caricco, Caricco, Caricco, Caricco, Caricco

Thought wouldn't bother about midfield as we never use it, and where as it might be a bit much for him, the clubs premiership saviour Caricco to take all the subs positions as only a player who was being chased by the top clubs in the Premiership could do.

=============Taylor===============

Kelly===Pearce===Mariappa===Shorey

============Karacan=============

McCleary==Guthrie===Akpan====HRK

===========Le Fondre===========

Anderson, Morrison, Harte, L,wood, McAnuff, Blackman, Hunt (unfortunately)

We need a left footed winger as McAnuff keeps cutting back and is very predictable! HRK will also provide better balance and the ability to cross early.

Andersen isn't in our 25, it will be Henly

Taylor

Shorey
Pearce
Mariappa
Kelly

McAnuff
Harte
Leigertwood
Guthrie
Robson-Kanu

Le fondre

Bench:Henly, Morrison, Karacan, Caricco, McCleary, Hunt, Blackman

Should be able to control the game with that midfield, villas defence is useless so through balls from Harte and guthrie should constantly play alfie, hrk and jobi in behind. Shoreys in to handle agbonlawhore and everyone else is just to stick to benteke

No alarms and no surprises:

---------------------Taylor
Kelly ------Pearce--------Mariappa-------Harte

McCleary---Legs--------Akpan--------McAnuff

---------Hunt------------ALF

A starting eleven to rival any promotion-chasing Championship outfit, i'm sure you'll agree.

IN for Carrico to score a late winner with more bandages adorning his lower limbs than a half-unmasked Scooby Doo villain.

Agree with this. McAnuff has played well when he has sat behind the striker, especially against Sunderland.

Cummings, Gilkes and Kebe on the same wing would be comedy gold! Oh, and spot the odd one out.

For me;

============Taylor===============
=Kelly===Pearce===Mariappa===Shorey=
========Guthrie==Leigertwood=======
==McCleary===Akpan==========Jobi===
=========Robson-Kanu===============

Henly, Morrison, Harte, Karacan, Carriço, Le Fondre, Hunt

I'm very :| about our striking options. We have no-one for a 4-5-1 and our 4-4-2 is too inflexible, plus ALF is better from the bench.

I initially had ALF upfront, HRK on the left, Akpan in with Guthrie on the bench. I would prefer Jobi in the middle but without Jimmy our wing options are weak if HRK were upfront (and we have no fresh winger to run at defences late on when we go 4-4-2). I'd prefer Akpan further forward than he has played recently. I'm torn between Carriço and Blackman on the bench.

I expect to see

============Taylor===============
=Kelly===Pearce===Mariappa===Harte=
=======Akpan==Leigertwood=======
==Jobi===============Robson-Kanu==
=========Hunt==Le Fondre=======

Perhaps with HRK and Jobi switched. I think HRK deserves a starting spot over GMac from what I've seen recently.

Kelly
Mariappa
Pearce
Shorey

McCleary
Akpan
Leigertwood
Guthrie
McAnuff

Blackman

Subs: Henly, Morrison, Karacan, Robson-Kanu, Kebe, Le Fondre

That covers all bases for me. We are better playing 451, and I think we should at least try Blackman, who is predominantly a forward after all, in the 'Pog role'. If it doesn't work, HRK is an option off the bench, and he is also cover for either wing. We don't need Harte on the bench purely as a sub left-back, McAnuff can fill that role if necessary. Otherwise those subs give us cover all over the pitch, and options to switch to a more attacking 442 if we need to.

Hammond

Bignall
Hunt
Le Fondre
McCarthy

Madejski
Casper
Barkus
Humphries

Ranson
Pog

Hartenberger, Obita and Keown (either one) to come off the bench.

We need a combination of youth and experience at this crucial moment, and i feel this formation will bring the best out of everybody and make the team better than the sum of its parts.

The fans need Pardew's 'Bring it on' banners and the 'back the boys and make some noise' man needs to be replaced by the one that went spastic at Mark McGhee.

Reading 2-0 Villa

With possibly no prem quality players whatsoever I don't think it matters a bit who BMc picks (OK - possibly Kelly?)

More about the formation and the tactics. I think we need to be at them from the off. 4-4-1-1 with Akpan in the hole or maybe even Jobi? Don't have the strikers for 4-4-2, but if the wingers press high to support ALF with Akpan playing off his shoulder we should at least not be over run (again).

As usual we will be outdone by some half-arsed mistake though and end up chasing the game.

Would just be nice to set the agenda rather than coming up with a Mission Impossible scenario all the time.

Correct! Although I can't believe that while racking my brains for the name of black men I completely forgot about Blackman.

MCCLEARY --------------- LEIGERTWOOD -------- AKPAN --------------------- ROBSON-KANU

Blackman over Hunt for height (maybe). Neither inspire me. 4-4-2 so we take the game to them, and then hope for a miracle clean sheet.
