sandman Been on the cards all season and Rodgers has been in contact with him since last summer.

Ok with him leaving have always thought he's good but certainly not irreplaceable and his distribution and lack of pace leave a lot to be desired.

Tbh I don't think he's good enough for a club who are pushing for Europe but that's Liverpool's problem. Good luck to Pearcey though and hopefully Rodgers will be able to manage him a bit better than he did when he was here when imo opinion he set Alex back a bit.

Thanks Kiddo.

Is Pearcey not slow then ? Is his passing, something you haven't stopped going on about all season, lacklustre? Did he not have the captaincy too early and suffer from being compared with John Terry when Rodgers was here?

I'm sad he didn't get to score a goal this season. I love his mad celebrations (and all of his fine defensive qualities, of course).

I'll really miss him.

Good luck to him wherever he goes.

I don't think he's good enough to play for Liverpool though, he doesn't have enough pace. As others have said neither did Terry or Carragher but their positioning is/was better.
I don't think he is worth the supposed figure of 30k, but if he thinks he is fair play to him.

LoyalRoyalFan Not overly sure why people are getting worked up about Pearce not signing a new contract. He's been a great servant to this football club, showed great passion and leadership, is Reading through and through. But...

He has every right to demand £30k a week.

Who would you rather play for? One of the biggest clubs in the world (with a friendly former manager) or Championship side Reading?

Go on then, I'll bite. Why does he?

... because he's out of contract at the end of the season?

Still failing to see why he has a right to demand anything. Surely, as the man out of contract, he should be the one negotiating?

Pearce is only worth what someone is willing to pay for him.

If someone is offering him the money then he can ask the Royals to match it and if the Royals can't match it then he has a decision to make.

Looks like he has made up his mind. He's not really good enough for Liverpool unless Liverpool are building for the Championship.

He has the right to demand whatever he wants, just like the club has the right to tell him where to go stick his ridiculous demands.

I like Pearcey but this season has been "ordinary" at best, and I don't think his position has helped the team.

If he suddenly signed and we had Pearce-Marriappa-Morrison to choose from we'd be excellent there in the Championship
and he is (or was) at his loyal best, great for us.

But is that Pearce still there mentally> I don't know. We might just have to start over.

What's Matt Mills doing? :-)

I doubt that Pearce ever had any intention of staying and that he was playing a waiting game as far as his contract was concerned. Certainly not the best CD we have ever had. As for going to team up with BR, good luck to him but as others have said, he is hardly the sort of player to take Liverpool into top 4 contention.

I Thought he was treated pretty shoddily by the club who just expected him to sign the first thing thrown at him and were taken aback when he didn't.

The constant droppings for players clearly worse than him was petty and ultimately stupid. I don't dispute that the player himself could have possibly came to the club a lot earlier and said I want his sorting out now, but it should still be up to the club to try and get their players signed up as soon as possible. The fact we won 4/5 games with Pearce & Mariappa and just 1 without that combination says enough for me.

The change of agents obviously hasn't helped the situation but again that's the club's fault for not giving him an extension sooner, it's the same problem Arsenal find themselves in, year after year and I suppose it should come as no surprise that a heavily Arsenal influenced club such as Reading would be doomed to repeat such mistakes.

Still, there's no point playing the blame game, he's bound to go because a Premier League club will take a punt on a 24 year old International who's got Premier League experience and is a good influence on and off the pitch.

Hopefully it can be a bit of an Ady Williams situation and he comes back one day. Sad to see him go but hopefully Morrison can learn from some of his mistakes this year and keep on improving. Hector could also take a step forward as well to be a good option as fourth choice.

They would say that, wouldn't they.

But why would they even know of any interest in a another club entering into contract talks with a free agent? No need to involve them so close to the end of his contract.

I think it's just about a done deal.

I like to think if I was a footballer I wouldn't use an agent. I have read The Secret Dave Kitson Footballer where he raves about agents and the good work they do, I still they are on the whole pcunts and I could do the work myself.

Ok, when you're old enough and if you ever get a job, if someone comes along and offers you another job at a much bigger company that has much better prospects and will just about double your salary, you'll be happy to turn it down?

Why would football be any different?
