Well, I'm the only one who can drive, but I'm drinking. A lot. Not sure driving will be sensible!

Can you only enjoy a match when tanked up?
Just saying. Your travel as a group would be half the price if driving instead of train.
Get there early, have a few beers, watch the match, drive home.
SImples.

You may think it's sad but I love the away day routine of having a few beers on the way there, in the local pubs around the place and on the way back.

I could enjoy it sober and could drive (never done this to an away game), but to me it's more about the day out, the atmosphere (or lack of), and having a laugh with other fans. Not just driving down a souless motorway to a plastic bowl stadium, watching a game for 90 minutes and driving back home.

EDIT: oh and also, I drive every bloody day and hate it as it's mainly to work and back or to go food shopping. Nice to just chill on a train and talk about rubbish with a few beers and a mate.

I thought you went to games by yourself, where's this mate come from?
Price of travel seemed to be an important factor for will95, so I'd thought I'd let him know that if he was to drive it would be half the price.

Obviously if you travel by yourself or in just a two then driving would likely be more expensive as well as not such a good atmosphere.

Money is a factor when (Huddersfield's case) it's £20 to £45, but for the sake of £7 odd that's worth the extra bit of enjoyment. £25, on the other hand, is not.

Haha, actually yea I did used to go to most by myself but would often know someone by face and just get chatting. If that didn't work I'd just drink until I lost the ability to speak.

Will95 Money is a factor when (Huddersfield's case)...

I did look at the trains to Huddersfield just to check and it's over £100 for a train ticket. I never planned to go before or wanted to go necessarily but was just curious as I'm off work saturday.

On Saturday, for the first time in a couple of years, I will be neither attending nor listening to a Reading game.

Going with four uni mates to the local League 1 game.
Total Price = 5 match tickets + parking space + petrol cost = £70 8)

Train tickets booked.

On the Reading->Gatwick... Gatwick->Brighton train - arriving there at 1147

Beers on the train and will find a decent pub for food/beer there - will be extra adventurous and try out the local wetherspoons.

Tickets bought

Just saw on their forum: http://www.northstandchat.com/showthrea ... u-go/page7

They expect a crowd of around 28k - 30k based on the low cost for tickets

In for this and hopefully the result is a repeat of our first trip to the Amex in 2012 and also a repeat of the best treatment/service ever from an away ground (friendly and sensible stewards, able to stand, decent guest beer, bar open after the game). According to the TO we sold 400 yesterday & have an initial allocation of 1600.
