Liam Kelly - Scout Report

by NTT20Pod » 12 May 2017 16:34

Hi all, the first ever NTT20.com scouting report takes a look at your man Liam Kelly.

Might be a nice way to pass some time before kick-off tomorrow, it's a fairly in-depth look at his role & ability: https://www.ntt20.com/blog-posts/instat ... ly-reading

Good article. Been seriously impressed with Kelly all season and he has certainly blossomed under Stam, but as it alludes to at the end, he may well be a Marmite player for a different manager.

Thank you all for the positive reviews, and I promise I'll do my best to keep things under wraps, but it might be hard if he impresses tomorrow. Was there ever an obvious reason for him not being given a 1st team chance, other than managers who didn't want to take the risk?

Please do share with anyone you think will enjoy the article.

I was impressed by the obvious words of encouragement from Wayne Rooney to Liam Kelly after the Manchester United game.

Great read. Shame he was ill for the game today but I think it's clear to all Reading fans by now that he has huge potential, and will in all likelihood be far too good for us in the near future.

The obvious reason for him not playing earlier would be his age....
I doubt many previous managers saw a particular risk in any other areas. Too much is made of his height, anyone who saw him play u21/u18 football would know he can tackle and can handle himself physically.
Throwing an 18/19 year old into a crucial midfield role would be risky whoever that player was.
Looks to me that Kelly has been pretty well handled. Picked to play when he was ready rather than thrown in too soon and struggled.
