Team for Peterborough (H)

by Snowflake Royal » 30 Jul 2023 12:14

So preseason done. No more signings until Dai finds ~£500k behind the fridge to pay the tax man.

Smith, and Hutchinson confirmed injured.

Wing, Yiadom and Carroll confirmed not match fit.

McIntyre and Andresson missing from the last squad. Rushesha unable to sign.

What's your starting XI for the opening day?

What do you think will be Selles' starting XI.

Mine:
....................Andresson
Abrefa, Mbengue, Holmes, NGW
......................McIntyre
.............Senga..........Savage
...Azeez..............................Knibbs
.......................Carroll

Bouzanis, Yiadom, Dorsett, Craig, Wing, Ehibhatiomhan, Camara

Selles?

......................Bouzanis
Mbengue, Holmes, McIntyre, NGW
.....Azeez, Senga, Savage, Knibbs
...................KelvE, Carroll

Andresson, Yiadom, Dorsett, Craig, Camara, Vickers, Abbey

Hutch definitely out? And obvs this assuming we can at least keep hold of savage and wing

Think it’ll be something like

Bouzanis
Yiadom Holmes McIntyre NGW
Hutch Savage
Knibbs Azeez
Carroll Ehibhatiomhan

Andresson, Mbengue, Dorsett, Craig, Abrefa, Camara/Wing, Senga

Rushesha will be in if we can get that one through.

He may go Mbengue or Dorsett instead of McIntyre at cb

No idea but I presume something similar to the first Swansea team.

Think it could be messy.

Thought so. He's gone missing and I thought there was an injury reported.

If Posh have genuine financial problems and a PO hangover we may get off ok. If not, they'll probably smash us.

But they were one of the top teams last season, so that shouldn't cause panic stations if they do.

If we can get the side above out then it’s plenty good enough for this level. Obvs that’s a big if. If we don’t pay that bill and lose savage, wing and Rushesha then it’s going to be a very tough season

Yeah I feel they’ve had the better of us recently too.

Yeah I feel they’ve had the better of us recently too.

I've been there three of the last 4/5 trips, I think. We lost all three.

Glad it's on Boxing Day so I won't be in the East to go.

My issue with that is it’s reliant on an Andy Carroll that can’t play a whole season and who hasn’t scored double figures in over a decade (albeit at a higher level), and a relatively untested Ehibatiomhan who although has impressed in pre season equally hasn’t really looked like scoring.

The defence is still woeful.

I don’t see where the goals are going to come from and I think we will ship loads of them.

I can’t wait to be proved wrong as we canter to an easy win!

Grim. Suppose it’s not too bad a trip for you but an arse of one for anyone anywhere not in the east of the country. Wasnt the Pauno protest there the other season?

That'll be one I missed.

It's still a change on the train iirc, but ok. Stevenage would be easier.

I liked the brewery tap and the terrace.

Without knowing exactly what players are going to be available (of the current squad), I'd play:
Andresson
Abrefa - Holmes - Dorsett - NGW
Savage - Mbengue - Senga
Azeez - Ehib - Knibbs

Subs: Bouzanis, Yiadom, McIntyre, Abbey, Craig, Vickers, Carroll (basically whoever else is fit)

I'd play Hutch ahead of Mbengue if fit enough to start (McIntyre otherwise if he's fit enough) and start with Carroll if he's fit enough for an hour.

I expect something like:
Bouzanis
Abrefa - Holmes - Mbengue - NGW
Camara - Savage - Senga - Knibbs
Ehib - Azeez
