On 45 minutes Potts was through on goal but was clearly held back by Liam Mitchell who gave the referee Mr Simpson no option but to show a straight red card.

I was sat next to the lad reviewing the refereeing and he was insistent it could only be a yellow. I dunno. My memory is the player had turned away from goal and was looking for a pass backwards at the time.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but Dunkirk were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player. Gresley were therefore awarded a walkover.

Had a look at that one - seems there needed to be a play-off. Stuttgart won the first leg at home 3-0; Leeds won their home game 4-1 - Stuttgart would've gone through on away goals. Teams like Carlisle, Torquay and York cant have progressed that much. Where we have reached the semi-final almost 100 years ago!

Actually, York did reach the semi-final in 1955 - and took Newcastle to a replay.
