It really is relentless, just when the magnificent team get in the play offs , the sword of Damocles comes crashing down, it really is cruel.

We understand and most probably don't blame Selles for going but he could have surely done much better than Hull.

With a profession that only has 92 jobs there will always be applicants , but whether the club offers them a living wage is a different matter.

This really is the worst possible news, the job he's done is nothing short or remarkable with what he has to deal with and the players at his disposal.

I hope that Chinese cnut gets everything he deserves in time

Not great with the coaches going too but McGhee took Lee & Hickman with him and SJM replaced them all with 2 players.....didn't work out too badly initially.

And there wasn't an exodus of player departures when McGhee & Pardew left - I can only think of Scott Taylor going to Leicester and that was the following summer.

My hunch is that there's clearly deeper issues with the takeover of the club. Maybe Dai has decided not to sell now we're around the top 6?

Going to Hull is a sideways move for the most part (no disrespect to them and being a league above) but we could potentially be playing at a higher level than them under a new owner. It really doesn't make a lot of sense other than the shower behind the scenes triggering this departure. He could do so much better than Hull.

I wish every karma on him and Hull if he indeed does go.

Yeah I don't see anyone going there from our squad. They're either players that'll go to premier league clubs in their youth sides (Bindon and Garcia) or won't improve them really.

AthleticoSpizz (Assuming Noel is a god-given to replace Ruben…..for now at least) Do we have anybody capable of replacing Noel (in what has become the lifeblood of propping-up the first team squad, U21s)?

Any thoughts that Ruben may want Noel with him too?

Mikele Leigertwood would step up from the U 18’s to the U 21’s

cheers R&R

Who would replace ‘Legs’?…..not posing awkward questions on purpose, but it does seem our ‘yoof’ has bailed us out in various scenarios in the first team.

Gunny Fishcake This really is the worst possible news,

Is it though? I'm not sure I agree but some fans I know aren't too excited about us doing really well in League One. As in, yes it's nice but it's also pointless while we have Dai, and if anything gives him more bargaining power trying to sell a potential Champ club, prolonging our misery.

I guess I see the poiunt and would probably rather slip to League Two and get a deal done to see the back of Dai than go up to get slaughtered in the Champ with him still around trying to hold on.

To me the more gutting thing is the bad luck that after years of truly awful managers we finally get someone potentially have decent but at a time when it's useless or even counterproductive.

Good luck Selles.

Let's not denigrate the players, the squad, though lacking a little experience and depth, oozes talent.

If you remember Taylor, how do you not remember Shaka and Osborn?

stealthpapes have we basically sold our manager to make ends meet?

£120k is the number being banded around on Twitter so no.

Talk about underselling, they really have no clue on market value, should have been a couple of million if he chose to leave and a decent amount up front to get permission to talk. If the 120k is true let’s hope it’s for the latter.

Don’t have a problem with it beyond annoying. He deserves something that doesn’t have all this cr@p in his back all the time. Personally think Hull is completely wrong for him because of the interfering chairman there and that he’d have got something better in the summer but there you go. Hope he gives a candid open interview on going but knowing what’s left of our senior management he’ll be stuck under another ****** annoying NDA.

How much do you think a league one manager should go for then? £120k seems fine to me. How long did have left in his contract?

Quite a lot, it’s not just the level it’s the upheaval it causes at even a “non-normal” club. If true £120k is utterly pathetic, esp. when he’s also taking two of the first team coaches.

You don't understand how this works do you. The other two have nothing to do with Selles contract. They have their own contracts which will or won't require separate compensation based on what's in them.

There are no transfer fees for managers. There is just contracts. Compensation will be based on the contract. And compensation for him if we sack him is likely linked

If Seles does go I will wish him well, but it does seem an odd move going to Hull. If he stays and is patient a much bigger job will come along. As others have said I can only think that things behind the scenes have become even more intolerable than we know. Such a shame for the talented group of young players that will be left behind. Noel Hunt is the only logical replacement.

I continue to think that if a sale does not go through very quickly that the club will not finish this season. Very sad.

I can't believe how little value people are putting on the appeal of working for an employer that reliably pays their wages every month.

Why would we not finish the season? There’s only 5 months of it to go

There’s enough sellable quality in the squad for us to limp along for a while yet. I think we’ve used 28 players this season (inc Azeez)

If Bindon rumours are true and Garcia is tied down to a contact that’s 2 sales that can keep us afloat for a while yet. And because our academy is so strong it’s appealing for any local superstar young players and no reason the conveyor belt can’t continue for at least the short term

Well, if the money ran out last month as suggested, we're reliant on sales. If we can't raise the money we need through them, then people and HMRC stop being paid again. More points deductions.

The club can't be signed off as a going concern, our accounts have to eventually be submitted. And Fin

We'd probably finish the season as the FL would do everything they could to limp us through for integrity of the comp.

But how much longer could we last.

Even with sales getting us there this season. There's a limit to how long that can last.
