skipper First 3 games to be Crawley, Burton & Northampton. Start the season with 3 straight wins and get the confidence going.
Note: I realise that's hugely disrespectful to all 3 teams, particularly Burton who have a 50% win ratio against us in the past 2 seasons, but I'd like to think that this is a year we can mount a challenge. And we all know that confidence is key!

Brogue i remember when Kes would tell us who we would have on the opening day, which great gusto. only to get it wrong every year.

RG30 All depends on the kick off time. Last year all opening L1 fixtures kicked off at 5:30pm on the Saturday so if the same scheduling applies you'd like anyone at (H) or an Orient/AFC Wimbledon (A) for an all day drinking session in London prior.

Stranded Two ways to look at the opening home game - you either want an "easy" game to hopefully get a decent win on the board - so L2 play-off winners probably the best shout there or you want a game you can really put down a marker in if you win.
So Wimbledon or Plymouth for me.
First away game - as I'll be in Stoke over the opening weekend, Vale away please.

Wimbledon should be weak, alternatives would be those who narrowly avoided relegation, like Burton.
I think I'd rather get someone stronger though, who is likely to be off to a slow start. So a PO failure that loses some players, or as you say a relegated team not yet up to speed.
Wouldn’t it be nice to start with a win away against Orient.

Maybe start with a win against Plymouth at home? Oh - hold on....

Interestingly* L1 and L2 start a week before the Championship this coming season, so that may well impact the kick-off times as the most high profile L1 game will likely get given a prime TV slot.

Crawley being the League Cup game presumably?
