From an emotive point of view, would love to see him back in the hoops. In fact, going back in time, when I saw him going up the escalator at Reading Station, I gave it the ol "We've got Meite" song. He turned round with the biggest smile on his face and I thought, yes mate, that's why we love you playing for our club so much. As well as his playing abilities, at the time, of course. Will this one get over the line? Sounds as though there are a few other irons in the fire.

Defs a yes in league 1.

Lost a year with ACL injury and always felt after then Ince never really fancied playing him; think Noel would bring the best out of him.

Look forward, not backwards. Taking the emotion out of it, is he the sort of signing we'd be excited about? 3 - 4 years since he was at his best, 29 and not much scope to improve, couldn't get in a team that finished bottom.

We know he has the sort of character we want, but I don't think there are many other reasons to go for it.

Really should be NO as it rarely works out well the second time but then my brain throws me that memory of the 3-2 win at home against Wigan with his 97th min headed winner and then i'm thinking well maybe just for one season :D :D :D :D :D

Pereira contract confirmed. 3 years. Great news. And also a vote of confidentiality in the project from an influential player which should convince others to sign up.

Excellent bit of business. Going to be hard pressed to top that during the off season. Delighted.

One of either Savage staying and Mbengue signing a new contract and that would be amazing!!! Both would be surreal!!!

We've got an auto promotion level midfield and goalkeeper under contract. Fascinating to see the calibre of the rest of the signings - if we are similar strength to last year with an out and out striker all year we'll go up.

The other big thing is that he definitely had good championship offers - he was convinced to stay. For the first time in a long time we can market ourselves in a positive way - a team on their way up rather than another Champ team circling the drain. I would be far from surprised if staying with mates and a familiar environment swayed it, in which case, credit to the Wings.

Updated. Up to 8 (EIGHT) players now contracted for next season and beyond, just another 10 players to find and we’ll have a matchday squad

Position - Name (age at end of contract)

Contracted until 2026
RB - Kelvin ABREFA (20)
LW - Mamadi CAMARA (22)
MF - Ben ELLIOTT (23)
MF - Harvey KNIBBS (27)
RB - Emmanuel OSHO (19)

Contracted until 2027
MF - Charlie SAVAGE (24)

Contracted until 2028
GK - Joel PEREIRA (31)
MF - Lewis WING (33)

Still awaiting confirmation on Mr Wareham.

Managing to persuade Mbengue to stay would be the :o  :o  of the close season.

I am delighted Pereira is staying, but I don’t think Mbengue will. I think we have Ajayi lined up, but no idea about anyone else.

Truth was though that at that stage he'd not signed the deal so you were only partially right.

I wonder what's taking the likes of Abrefa, Dorsett and Ehibhatiomhan longer than Pereira. You won't get a better offer than Reading lads.

I'll wait to see what our first choice centre back pairing is before prediction anything.....replacing Bindon & likely Mbengue won't be easy.
