Clyde1998 Also strong rumours on the Exeter forum they'll've run out of short money in November. Most of their board has resigned (albeit no public statements yet).

Seems to heavily relate to a tax issue where you have to pay the entirety of a transfer fee at the time the deal is done, even if you've not received the payment yet (as most transfer fees are in instalments). Worse is it wasn't even a transfer Exeter were directly involved in: as a result of Jay Stansfield being signed by Birmingham for £15m+, Exeter are receiving a sell on fee. It's the tax on that sell on fee receipts that's causing their issues.

Apparently their plan to get a loan didn't get approval.

I guess its seen as a "debtor" in a standard balance sheet so taxable now.

In other news, Jack Wilshire is the new Luton manager....tough first gig.

I think it's because football clubs have to account for transfer income when the deal is announced, but can amortise outgoing transfer fees. Exeter wouldn't have the accumulated losses of most clubs to effectively avoid paying the tax on transfer income.

Also, don't forget that Exeter are owned by their Supporters' Trust, which means that they don't have access to the same kinds of credit that sugar-daddy ownership brings.

An almost Shrewsbury-esque collapse by Huddersfield last night, went to bed when they were 1-0 up in the 90th minute, found out this morning they managed to lose it 2-1.

Bolton looked decent I thought....and that's a team with as high a player turnover as us in the summer.

Couple of good goals from them at the end. Did seem a pretty standard 1-0 win until that last few mins I thought. Didn’t really see those goals coming

I know this may well be the wrong thread to be posting on, however just wanted to express sympathies to all Sheff Wed. supporters, given their current plight. After watching the highlights from last night, and seeing all the empty seats, it was a stark reminder of how close our club was to going down the pan. There will no doubt be somebody on here who can pinpoint the correct thread for this post.

Not that it matters too much but wanted to put it out there, we`ll drop a place tonight or 2 places if Exeter and Plymouth draw.

Yep always found their fans a decent lot as well - Chansiri must be asking for an unrealistic price given the lack of any offers.

Looks like they are looking at points deductions as well given missed wages/tax.

I've not looked closely, but my impression was he has no interest in selling and is quite happy to spitefully destroy the club because his ego has been bruised by criticism and he sees the club as his toy, which he can break if he damn well wants to.

Elm Park Kid Wednesday have gone into administration.

That's got to be good news for them doesn’t it? Takes it all out of Chanserai's hands.

Short term a lot of pain, but the prospect of a brighter future under someone else.

Very quick look on X, seems that Weds fans on there share the view. All accepted they were going down this year so the 12pt deduction doesn't really matter but with Chansari gone, expect crowds to pick up and money to start coming in.

Weds could be a bargain for the right purchaser.

Of course, if Chansari is a large creditor of the club then it won't get rid of him and he could in fact thwart any real deal to get them out of admin - if he wished to be a twat - admin just means he won't have to put a single penny more in.

Basically that I think

Dai was a prick of course but always felt it was more out of gross incompetence and money issues than spite. Maybe I’m being generous

We were lucky to escape Dai without going through this. Administration is tough, lots of difficult decisions, and while some grown ups will arrive to run the club and try and fix the mess, their objectives will be purely financial plus Chansiri is still the owner and can be a very difficult person to deal with. He can actively work to undermine the administrators and seems spiteful enough to do so. Doesn't he own the stadium separately to the club? One massive issue right there

I think it will ultimately save them, but it's a long painful fix. If I were a Wednesday fan, my only hope is that it's resolved this season and they have a chance to reset in L1 next season instead of falling straight through into L2 (unfunny reset comments incoming).
