We're not suited to a direct, physical game. CBs will eat it up for breakfast against Marriot. We need a manager who prefers to get us playing through the lines so we can get the ball to Wing/Elliott/Doyle/Ritchie/Lane in threatening positions, then Marriot will thrive off their service.

This is possibly how Couhig and Jacobson will go about choosing the new manager

Assume Brian Carey will have a big say in who we pick? Who else with any long term football experience do we have at the club

First of all I don’t like that when it looked like he was on the verge of success he ditched Wycombe for a relegation fight with Luton.

The previous seasons he finished mid table or their about. (Our fans would want him sacked after 10 games)

Why sack a manager to replace him with the same thing?

3 points of 12th with a lot of the season still to go.

2 points above the 3rd and 4th relegation places and those 2 clubs have a game in hand.
I guess that is what gave the owners the concern over how well or badly we were doing.

As suggested in another topic, would Gary O'Neill be up for a "project"?
Considered very unlucky to lose his job down here but he didn't have the massive funds provided to Iraola which has meant Bournemouth being able to buy players from the top foreign clubs clubs.

He would certainly require a decent salary but far better to pay big bucks for a good manager rather than give wages to a few past it or already moderate players IMHO.

One other thing-he played for a lot of clubs and has managed two as well as having been U21 manager at Liverpool so I would suspect that his network of connections extends much further than to players of Irish origin under the agency of his own brother.

If anyone is interested as to why Bloomfield was considered a rising star before our (Wycombe) new overlords ousted him and he ended up as basket case Luton, this is a good article on his philosophy. It sounds like he is out of it now, though.

This all illustrates the problem of sacking the manager. You've got to find a new one. And in this case, it appears to be without too much planning ahead. So none of the options appear to be all that great. Hard to see how they're much of a step up on Hunt.

Realistically, you probably have to look outside the UK. A manager of a top flight side in many countries may see managing in League One as a significant opportunity - for example, from the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, Czechia.

I also don't accept for one minute that a non-UK manager somehow doesn't understand the footballing culture here. Almost every successful manager in the Premier League over the last twenty years has been from abroad.

But we don't have time for that kind of search and selection process.

As you say, most Premier League clubs have foreign managers.
Those managers have significant funds for transfers and can scour the world for the best players.

3rd Division football is totally different with most managers working to a shoestring budget so IMHO it is handy if they have played or managed here because of contacts they have developed over the years with a view to signing new players.

If Richardson is the man I suspect the owners have had their eye on him for some time so the process isn't a panic but, regardless of what we think, a considered approach.

I don’t think the wittered dribblings if all of us of HNA, and we couldn't get consensus across the lot of us that the sky is blue, do anything to say whether there's a plan on not.

We know there's a plan, because a Couhig told us months ago he has a short list of three managers he'd look to appoint from if he did need to hire a new manager.

Whether we agree with the options, we go with one of those options, or end up with someone entirely different, and whether we like that person, is irrelevent to their being a plan.
