Royals and Racers Someone has stated on Radio Berks that Reading lead a all teams league of consecutive matches played and scoring in. I think it’s stands at 18 and we are 1 ahead of Arsenal. Can anyone confirm ?
Attendance 11,703

Nope, Bradford (a)

Of course- i was there :D

I think it was true before that game though

A very good game of football; two evenly matched teams playing to win.

We might need to find a way to accommodate both Savage and Fraser - Savage’s energy, ability to have the ball played into feet when surrounded, tackling / recovery of the ball, and effective distribution means he must start, but Fraser provides a measure of calm, progressive passing that allows us to play through the middle.

At least a 6 out of 10 from every Reading player - mostly 7s and above. I think that’s no accident, but down to planning and coaching. The new regime are starting to really influence things.

I was worried after the cr@p that was the Peterborough game that things were not improving. We can see that start of something very good now.

4 wins out of five, beating a top 6 team, another clean sheet. It’s all beginning to look very good indeed. And there’s nothing better than a last minute winner.

Fair play to Richardson - whilst the football isn't great but this team look a lot more solid and have started to get that winning mentality.

The subs made a massive difference. I thought Fraser was excellent. He added steel and aggression into midfield and meant Savage could play further up. Surely we could start with that formation?

Our game management seems to have improved greatly. Whilst we're still hanging on at times, it just all seems more controlled.

I think having the old head of yiadom back has helped with that a lot. He’s not really had much recognition since he’s been back in the lineup, but having two young full backs in the team at times hasn’t helped with that. For me yiadom has to start ahead of abrefa. If we can a decent lb in January a back 4 of dw PoC yiadom and a decent lb is very decent at this level. That being said if burns continues like he is it’s going to be quite the headache for Leam when Williams is back. He was probably motm today and was a contender for it against burton.

Probably the best result of the season so far; Stockport probably edged the game prior to our goal, but we matched one of the strongest sides we've played this season in terms of performance in what was largely a cagey affair.

Could've been a very different game had Stockport scored their one-on-one in the first ten minutes, but I think Dorsett did enough to recover and pressure their attacker into putting wide. Was a bit concerning how often Stockport seemed to get in behind our defence in the first half, especially with us not having any especially quick defenders.

Thought we wasted our best chance to win the game, with Wing's blocked effort and then Yiadom having his rebound saved. It was a fantastic winner though: great composed turn by Dorsett (of all people) and a perfect layoff for Wing to do what he does so often!

With our recent results, it's a shame we've got such a long wait until our next match; would be good to keep the momentum going. Still a much needed break for our players after the busy Christmas/New Year period.

Great win today and some karma for the utterly poor awayday experience in Stockport, they seem to go out of their way to make it as shit as possible to it's nice that we do them with a last minute winner,

I hope the away fans appreciated the roof, food kiosks and toilets in a proper ground as they head home to Stockport.

That goal looks even better on the telly, hitting it like that from a virtual standing position with hardly any run up was phenomenal.
Wingy is sure to get interest during this window but it would be insane to listen to offers.
A pure and utter Reading football club legend during difficult times that are hopefully behind us now.

And a word for Liam Fraser, we look a much better outfit with him out there, not afraid to put his foot in, it can`t be a coincidence that we upped our game and pushed forward after he came on. play Savage further forward and let Fraser and Wing do the heavy lifting.

Fraser did well again and moving Savage to CAM made us look a whole lot better imo, esp once KE came on. Those two work well as a pair from what I’ve seen

Be interesting to see what LR does after the break, Doyle getting some praise for yesterday but I just don’t see it really. He’s ok but Savage is a lot more aggressive and physical. Which might also help Marriott more than Doyle also

Across all competitions Reading have scored at least 1 goal in every one of the last 19 games except that trip to Bradford City.

Reading have currently managed to score in 21 of their 24 league games so far, the only failures being: Bradford (a), Huddersfield (h) & Lincoln (a). The most depressing results this season though have been the home games against Doncaster & Rotherham.

A statement win.

Went toe to toe against one of the top sides in League 1, who boast one of the best strikers and possibly the most creative midfielder in the division and not only won but we also kept a clean sheet.

The 2 week break before Orient will be good in order to give key players a much needed rest.

It will be a major shock if Championship (at least) teams don't enquire about Wing before the end of this month; I would suggest to the owners that if you have a genuine ambition to get promoted this season you turn down any offer for him that comes in.

Yeah, agreed. It does feel like Wing enjoys his time at the club and the area but he'll be 31 at the end of the season and so far probably having his best season with us right now, he's probably at the point where he needs to have another crack at Championship level.

I would have said the opposite. Think he's had a pretty rubbish season with him and Savage in that doomed, aimless midfield. Not his fault, just the way Hunt & Richardson has set up the midfield with them being so deep they just look for glory balls

Wings defensive stats are excellent though and still plenty of goals and assists

Not his fault the front line hasn’t been particularly good - though signs of improvement

I would have agreed that his performances are down and it feels like he's scored fewer bangers but ...

in league

42 - 10 - goal every 4.2 games
46 - 9 - goal every 5.1 games
24 - 8 - goal every 3 games

which is the exact opposite order to how I'd rate his seasons.

Not looking to diminish the impact of Fraser but the Stockport fans reckon they sat back and stopped attacking the moment they subbed Mothersille off.
