MR. CYNICAL Wasn't impressed by his appointment, especially when it became obvious he likes to play long ball, can't argue with the last 5 results but it's fine margins, Luton could of gone either way once they got back to 2-2, Peterborough we could easily of lost 4-1 but hung on and Stockport we had to rely on another Wing screamer in the last minute to win the game and the football has been turgid to say the least.
Let's see what this window brings as regards his playing style and if we can build on this run of results before getting carried away.

I don't think he does like to play long ball. But with a team in poor form, you play simple and direct because they're going to struggle with much else.

Our last two games we've had 52.1% & 53% possession and 79% & 80% pass accuracy. And there was a notable decrease in long balls against Stockport. It seems to me, he's stabilised things, got the players confidence and form up, and is now starting to transition into more complex and passing football. I guess we'll see how that progresses.

He's always going to be fairly direct, or rather high tempo attacking intent, I suspect.

Good, don’t want cr@ppy keepball with plenty of passing and possession just for the sake of getting pointless stats up.

But that's what we tend to do, pass it sideways and backwards in our own half before hoofing it to up to their centre backs.

How many goals do you see conceded every week, at every level thanks to unnecessary fannying around in and around the 18 yard box?

Get it up the pitch!

That's not hoofball, morever common sense.

Oh for Wally Downes..........

That what most teams who are in poor form do, and as I just showed, we did it far less against Stockport.

We played some really nice quick incisive football second half in both of our last games. Really liked how we moved it round the back in the Burton game and then improved as we went va Stockport after a slow start

That Wing chance before his goal was lovely football

Richardson Out - Reading fans love a good moan and he isn't giving us enough to moan about what with winning games and climbing the table.
The club are not helping at all, they've introduced Pukka Pies so we can't even moan about the catering.

I like the addition of the "opponent ppg" column, seems to suggest we've played a bunch of teams in poor form rather than it just being an upturn in our own form, then looking at next opponents Orient, they appear to have a below average recent record and playing teams in somewhat average form themselves.

Can we just restart the season from 12 games ago?

Certainly not the case with Posh and Plymouth... well Posh second game and they were obviously hitting form at the first

Saw a similar stat with LRs ten games and the oppo ppg was quite a bit higher

Guess it was Northampton and Donny the other two games and they are right at the bottom now

Agreed. And there's been glimmers in other recent games, it's like the lightbulb flicks on and they realise they're actually not bad footballers. Couple of great moves in the Bradford first-half. Plus the half hour against Plymouth, when Wing and Savage were hovering around the opposition 18-yard box rather than ours, with Kyerewaa, Randell and Doyle moving their defence all over the shop.
