He was a pcunt when he was here, and he's still a pcunt.

Maybe if he wasnt shit, and didn't spend his whole time falling over his own feet and agitating against Coppell he would have had a better time.

One of my most despised former players managing one of my least favourite teams. I sincerely hope it's a disaster for all involved.

skipper Liam Rosenior in the frame for the Chelsea job

and he will be taking Kalifa Cisse with him as coach too

bristol city away "KALIFA" "CISSE" chanted constantly for about an hour, was class. probably his best game for us too.

One of my fave away games for that reason.

Chant better than player spin off?

Not fussed about him, think - like his dad - he’s far more talented as a coach and manager than as a player. He got caught up in what turned out to be the ridiculous Rodgers revolution that saw him and his overheads forced out so the club could be helped to bring in players like Matt Mills, Brian Howard and not Tommy Smith. I’d say that’s a pretty reasonable sort of “cost cutting” action for a recently relegated PL club though.

Think his later comments were therefore a bit bizarre, it’s not like he was isolated and forced to train with youth players to try and get him to go. Perhaps he actually liked his time and many of his colleagues at Reading and felt upset he had to break ties he didn’t particularly want to.

Guess he’ll never return here in a job as a future manager or coach, so looking forward to the inevitable cup game against him next season.

Bold to suggest he'll get to the start of next season with Chelsea, etc...

I'd go for the Ola John/Piazon which again was sung for about 20 mins non stop after the 4-3 last minute win against Charlton, funnily enough Rakels with the winner who also had a good chant himself.

So, who’s the best fit to create that sort of chant now? Ehibhatiomhan would be good, one parse would probably take 20 minute alone :?

Savage/Wing (couldn’t that have been by Len Deighton?) could be good, to the tune of the Dambusters might be appropriate.

What is interesting reading Liam’s comments from 2008 in hindsight is his comments comparing Ipswich spending £10m and Reading selling £10m of players. It was the spaffing of cash on average players at Ipswich that led to them going on a downward spiral and spending a good few years in League One in financial shit that took them years to recover from.

Piazon now plays in Poland and is 31

Ola John is 33 and is part of the Saudi football revolution with Al-Arabi

Rakels - RIP sweet prince

The sort of comedy goal hanger we kinda needed*, I thought looked OK in his first season then never saw him again until it turns out we're releasing him two seasons and two managers later. Injured for best part of a season and yeah never got another chance.

*strike force that season was

Blackman 13 goals but sold in January
Vydra 9 goals on loan
Sa 5 goals but sold in January, basically scored a great hat-trick early doors then sulked
Piazon 5 goals on loan
Kermorgant 3 goals January signing #1
Rakels 3 goals January signing #2

shambles tier squad building

I remember at the time people were apoplectic about his comments and I couldn't quite see why.

Re-reading them, I still don't feel the hate. The club was in a right mess at the time and it didn't work out for him. His comments don't seem that inflammatory to me.

He's obviously a really smart bloke who is prepared to speak his mind. Maybe not quite as good a footballer as he thinks he was, but that hardly makes him a pcunt.

OMG - I thought Deniss had died and I'd missed it, when you said RIP. Still alive and well, and only 33.

I followed him for years on Instagram, for no good reason. He's been around a bit. Last heard of playing in Riga.

Awful tats though.

I think it stung a bit at the time because we had been so successful in the recent past that any returning player would have probably got a great reception. It felt a bit like he was lashing out and slagging the club off a bit too much, while simultaneously saying he didn't care about us.
