rabidbee I'm quite disappointed that all of the League Two clubs close to the Forest of Dean are doing so badly this year ('ksake, Newport!), as my son is desperate to go to an away game (he's young and foolish), and I don't think we're quite up to trecking to Lincoln or Barnsley yet. I'm not sure Swindon or Oxford would be my choice for an 8yo's introduction to away football, either.

Presume you want to watch County rather than another team? I notice they’re at Bristol Rovers next week so that might be an option? Think both are pretty ropey so it might be a fairly even encounter.

If you just want a team “on the up” then Bristol City in the Championship, Cardiff in L1, Merthyr in the National North or Cirencester in the Hellenic are all having decent seasons. And Reading itself isn’t an overly difficult trek given the M4.

rabidbee It's more like 90 miles for us, but the Bescot is a good shout - he'd enjoy watching the traffic going over the flyover.

Certainly a step up from the quality on the pitch.

We go to home games, he wants to go to a Reading away game, and I don't think I can get a long trip past the management just yet. Rovers and County are a similar distance from us, although I don't think there would be any chance of him getting a ticket to Rovers, based on last year. I've also never been to County, which is another reason I'd like them not to go down. Didn't help that the EFL scheduled the game at Cardiff on my daughter's birthday weekend, the selfish bastards.

Reading travel to Burton on 7 March that might be a palatable game for an 8yo and obvs. an easier trek than something really up north given the motorway access around the West Midlands.

He will have plenty of time to study every vehicle as it stops and starts along the M6. Maybe you can get him to count the number of lorries compared to the number of cars that pass!!

With Plymouth winning again today, the bottom of the table is now looking much more as you'd have expected.

Gone win for Huddersfield which is bad for us.

Only just realised how few games Barnsley have played.

They have 23 games left to play in 13 weeks (3 or 4 more than most other clubs) - so will pretty much be playing Sat-Tues/Weds-Sat for the rest of the season.

Seems to just be Rotherham out of place at the bottom end of the division, although they've been on a very difficult run of matches and four of their next five are very winnable on paper.

Barnsley also lost 4-0 after drawing with us. We must've taken it out of them. Also frustrating to see Orient losing at home to Port Vale after we made them look like Brazil.

3 midweek L1 games on Tuesday, all surrounding relegation places rather than play off & promotion.

Barnsley v Northampton
Burton v Doncaster
Port Vale v Wimbledon

So Wimbledon will have a busy week before next Saturday’s encounter with Reading not that Reading appear to do particularly well after “time off”.

I see that Barry Bannan finally left Sheff Wed last week and is now employed by Millwall

Meanwhile Wednesday took Luton centre forward Jerry Yates on loan.
