Ian Royal Nothing to do with playing the game, it's basic physics. Although in the ref's defence it'll have happened at high speed and at a distance. It's all very well having a still photo of it, but if the ref blinks at the wrong time or isn't focusing on that specific point at that time he wouldn't have seen it. And he may well have thought something odd happened, but he can't be sure it was handball unless he saw it, and if he can't be sure he can't rule it out.

Other than Ba tapping his right arm with his left hand, then shrugging his shoulders with a big grin on his face while he was celebrating. I would have done at that point what the Italian ref did with Klose and ask him point blank if he knocked the ball in with his hand/arm...

Assuming the ref was watching the celebration rather than our players protesting. And I'm not sure you can really rule out a goal you've just given because you see the player who scored shrug and touch his arm.

Furthermore, since Ba would have had his back to the ref he would have been hard pressed to see him grinning.

Here we go again with this "look at me, I'm a better fan than you" crap.

People pay their money and are entitled to go whenever they want. It is not a prison and sometimes people may have other engagements so need to get away early. If you want to stay until they end, fine, but it is not your place to criticise people if they want or have to leave early.

I get the whole 'I've paid my money and I'll leave early if I want' argument, however in my eyes it's plain disrespectful!

You wouldn't find people getting out of their seats five minutes before a play has finished while the actors are still on stage, so why is it ok at a football match?

Stay and show some support for the lads who have put so much effort in on the pitch, and show some gratitude by applauding them off. If getting home five minutes early is really more important to some people than showing respect to those that have put their hearts into the cause and above all entertained us then I think some people need a reality check!

Leaving 5 minutes early may mean getting home an hour or so sooner with the terrible traffic jams getting out the stadium. And I am sure the players won't feel that disheartened when they pick up their massive pay cheques.

floyd__streete Good game, excellent performance and we would have thoroughly deserved to have won if we had held on. Good stuff, on the front foot for the most part, wingers involved, in-your-face attitude. Sadly, that is perhaps as well as we can possibly play and we still let a lead slip twice, fail to win and concede our minimum two goals a game. Pearce being dropped and Gorkss retaining his place is a bit of a joke tbh.

we deserved to win but at this level you have to defend 100% all the time. We did defend well though as Newcastle didnt get through that often.

1st hald was dire, 2nd half was much better though

Really? The first half was so poor. Hardly a move of note. We talked at half time about whether it would be last on MOTD again. I didn't hear a tanding ovation, whatever that is.

Was it exciting? No, not at all. Was there much quality play? No not at all. Did we completely negate Newcastle and have the better of the chances? Yes, absolutely. Even if those chances were few and not very good.

So it kinda depends on what you consider to be good.

highlighting typos- the last resort of the argumentatively bankrupt

perhaps i was only so impressed due to its improvement on the previous games. but pretty much everyone i could see around me stood and applauded the team off at half time for the high tempo pressing game we played, and our domination of proceedings.

just my opinion of course

2nd half, by contrast was excellent. And I enjoyed the 1st half, because I saw that what we were trying was largely succeeding.

To be fair people wouldn't have to leave early if the football stadium wasn't in f/cking Hampshire.
