Yeah I don't think we lost anyone I was really too concerned about, but given our struggles this season he'd have probably played a fair few games. Hindsight is a wonderful thing I suppose.

Brogue Gabe osho is getting rave reviews at Luton having moved into a holding midfielder role this season. He has forced his way into the first team now and has played 27 times this season.

Shows potentially another mistake made there.

Possibly, but he was never going to sign a new contract and I won't begrudge a player to leave to try and find 1st team football. Was quite a way behind in the pecking order for CB, although might've been second choice RB.

Did he leave the season we got Esteves in?

Because that looks even more mad than it did at the time with how Osho is turning out if so.

Didn't Osho refuse the contract and then take ages to find a new club?
I am not sure its the clubs fault this time - he didn't want to be 4/5th choice at Reading and we didn't want to pay him over the odds to stay. Parted ways on amicable terms I would say and the correct decision made at the time.

Yeah, but I think we basically offered him a crap deal as back up of back up.

Think we probably could have offered him a better deal and a surer route to first team football than I suspect we did.

Without the restrictions no doubt, he did look like he was one good loan spell away from being ready for the Championship which is what he got at Rochdale after joining Luton.

Our loss is their gain unfortunately.

Think he was offered an extension on what he was earning and he thought as he had broken into the team he deserved a bit more - given where the club are I think both positions were fair and him leaving was the right move for him.

I very much doubt he would have played holding midfield here and did take him a couple of loans last year including one in the National League and a change of position to break into the team but fair play to him. Often a move is best for all parties and his career may well have been very different if he had stayed.

Yeah I’d file Osho under Cox or Antonio rather than under Stacey or Dickie.

That said, if he had stayed then he would have played a lot. He’s a better player than Holmes imo. If he’d stayed fit I think he’d have played 60 games for us.

You know who we did miss out on? Lucas Boye. 7 in 34 for Elche last season, 7 in 12 this season. Very respectable return in the Spanish top flight. File him under Sharp, Vydra, Grabban, and Martin as strikers we didn’t get the best out of.

I am sure other clubs have "ones who have got away" or "better than here" but we have had some absolute shockers. The strikers Sciag mentions is just so depressing and then this Osho debacle just takes the biscuit. Thought he was decent when we was starting out and rumours were that we offered £400 a week contract to stay.

Nothing will come close to our greatest ever transfer mistake in Antonio, but Osho just adds to the list over past 8 years or so.

In fairness, Boye was one who was regularly touted by many players as one of the technically best at the club. He probably was another talented player that couldn't settle at the club and couldn't find his feet here.

We never do well with high(er)-profile players though really, which I think, given our status, Boye maybe falls under that category.

Still don't understand how Boye could pull off a piece of world class control and then miss his 6 yard pass by 5 yards.

Never helped him having to compete with Joao, Puscas, Meite, Baldock and to a lesser extent Loader. Joao and Puscas were big money signings and Meite ended the season before on fire. It meant there was little scope for chances to impress and I always got the impression he was trying too hard in the games he did feature in

One of the problems of having a ridiculously large squad

Yes I'm sure it is.
I'm not sure if she is still his girl friend or wife but he was at one time dating the daughter of Albert Barrett.
For those of you who help with the family shopping you could have noticed this name in the potato section.

A multi millionaire who might have given Hal some tips on how to run a successful business and turmeric is very much in vogue.

Boye was class and under-used, but from your posts you seem to like players that run around like headless chickens for 90 mins

If you mean Albert Bartlett, he was born in 1923 - so even his daughter would be about 70. I knew HRK was a wrong-un.

Her father Ronnie was born in 1963.
Presumably his father was Albert (not to be confused with his famous American professor namesake who was, indeed, born in 1923).

His main problem was being an absolute turkey on the pitch.

I like players who put in effort, can get the basics right and have some consistency.
