Hoop Blahmelonhead if we had kept sigurdsson and long wed already be more succesful, possibly at a higher level, and be playinga more exciting brand of football.
agree weve not brought in a decent attacking player since he took over, but they are just more expensive, and therefore were totally off the menu for him.

I'm not sure how long we'd be able to keep these successful players despite the new money. I'm pretty sure you're right that we'd have been able to keep Sigurdsson for at least the rest of the season and that with him and Long in tandem we may well have gone up (although Long wasn't getting quite the same results with Sigurdsson in the side as once we changed our style to make the most of Long's own talents - not to say he wouldn't still have come good of course).
As long as we're in the Championship, we'll have difficulty keeping our best players no matter what we offer them (within reason). If we can meet the mid-term target of being a mid-table Premiership team, that dramatic shrinks the pool of potential suitors.
