back in my day ....it was the 10 pence a season joining fee and Reading Supporters Club

Cannot really understand the expectations demanded from....... and the vitriol expressd to (what is effectively) the modern-day supporters club

Just watch and enjoy the game..f11ck....the politics

If enthusiastic amateurs want to drape and march an oversized flag around the ground..then fine....because that is pretty much the limits of their influence.

Fans forums, are pretty much the same as a Reading Borough Council Consultation I guess....this is what will happen....now lets skulk around the trivia and peripherals to appease those that have a differing opinion.

Royal Bahamas I can't help feeling that in this day and age of electronic communication, most of the comments on this site are truly out of date. "Invited", "Not Invited", "Clique", blah, blah, blah......

What are those new fangled things that people use these days ????????? Computers, Videos, etc, etc, etc.......

If you really want a change, and want to be able to be a part of it, why don't you all email STAR and RFC and state that you want Vido Conferencing, on a large scale. It won't matter where you are, you will still be able to communicate YOUR concerns,.....and hey, there's a thought, even give your appreciation, for all the GOOD things that are being done!

Go for it,.....or just turn up in person. It's your choice. Enjoy the day. :|

Because STAR is obviously run by a load of middle to old aged people who have little grasp of technology. Inactive on twitter, inactive on HNA, can't even send a few sodding emails without cocking up. They all most likely have full time jobs and have little time to give two shits about how many hoops the kit have or what the beer tastes like.

Even if they were to disband, reform and are run with people who understand Twitter and the like, the club still aren't going to give two shits about what they think. STAR have absolutely no power, they can "recommend" what the hell they like, 9/10 the club won't listen and STAR can't speak up about it because RFC will cease these fans' forums that keep them going.

Not sure why everyone is so infatuated with the goings-on of an organisation who have absolutely no power to affect the running of the club.

Was a decent night, always nice to hear from the players and while there was the usual media trained evasive answers for many of the questions, there were one or two interesting bits of insight.

Again it's nice to have the chance to go to these things and considering they're put on at no extra cost I can't complain.

this
and hobnob is the modern day equivalent to a group of lads chatting in the pub or at the office about a particular subject, Whatever the topic of debate you can voice an opinion, In some cases quite a strong opinion but at the end of the day your not really that bothered.

Stuboo
pea Twitter and Facebook

Agreed. They could communicate with all fans through these.

And they do - it's anodyne to the extreme but they're the official communications route to the club.

As someone who was active in the old supporters club my view was that the club would rather not have us around (save for the revenue from the Rendezvous fruit machines!). It hasn't really changed in the last 25 years.

Supporters do seem to be a bit of a burden to RFC.

I follow STAR on Twitter and it's rare I see a tweet from them in my Twitter feed. You're right, they do use Twitter and Facebook, but they could use them more if they want to promote what they do and boost their PR.
