Think he is getting better & better & think the criticism of him is quite harsh at times.

He was very lively. Provided some quality crosses. Was able to break down Cardiff's backline better than anyone else up front. If fit I would like to see him back in the starting 11 on Tuesday, provided Kebe is still a no go. We really need one of the two available on Tuesday to stand a good chance at it. We really need some more speed on the pitch to stretch Cardiff's backline and provide better service for Shane...and he and Kebe are our best (only based on what I saw today?) options for that right now.

I hope he continues to improve. A few years ago my mate at swindon reckoned he'd be good enough to play in the prem one day and when I posted it on here a lot of you laughed. Hes not there yet but if he plays like that and keeps getting better he's not going to be far off.

Seems like you guys were watching a different game from me.
Both Robson-Kanu and Manset were totally inaffective last night.
There was a moment in the first half when HRK was through, then got the ball stuck under his feet and was tackled, despite being about 10 years younger than their back line.
He put in a decent left foot cross early on to be fair, but that was it.
He didn't have the bottle to take on his man like a traditional winger.
He's a million miles away from Kebe, and that really showed last night.

and that run where he should have scored was stopped by a brilliat, and very last ditch tackle. unfortunately its just harder to run with the ball at your feet, than without

I think anyone who wasn't impressed by him needs to watch a rerun on tv. He really turned up and most of our attacking play came through him, despite being on the right.
After he went off we didn't look particularly potent. Karacan man of the match, but for me HRK could have been if he hadn't got injured. Well played lad. He's going to be a good player.

Oh yeah and he was on the right so McAnuff could play on his favoured left side.

Definately going to be a very good player, probably the sort that could tear up the championship but do sweet FA in the premiership. Always thought he would be decent, but have to admit there were times this season where he looked like a waste of time

Decided to post here to avoid starting another thread.

I don't have anything against him, I think he's 'alright'. But we really do play best when we have exciting, quality wingers...and the problem with Hal is he just seems far too average. Is anyone else a bit underwhelmed if he is the replacement for Kebe?

Most definately simply because he has no consistency to his game, yes that may come as he plays more but for next season I can see him being very hot and cold

Thing is, he's a better crosser of the ball than Kebe and seems to have an eye for goal........that alone will help, the other parts of his came with come with game time and experience

I reckon he and Church will be our main threat next season

Can't wait to see him next season, the lad has so much potential and I can see him being one of our key players, especially if Kebe leaves.

Must admit I never rated him and may have written him off a bit early. He came on leaps and bounds at the end of the season, just shows what a bit of confidence can do. Looking forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.

It's age (he's 22 and one month) and playing time too, same as Long.

HRK has 4-5 years of improvement to get to be as important as Kebe.

He's already starting to show his worth and hasn't yet played that much for RFC

18 (29) = "23 x 90" 6 Goals and 4 assists (all the goals this season so clearly improving)

Better than 1 in 4 overall.



In comparison Jimmy's first two seasons (1 and a bit) were

39 (08) = "40 x 90" for 2 Goals and 11 assists


First two seasons compared:

39 (08) = "40 Games" for 2 Goals and 11 assists Jimmy
18 (29) = "23 Games" for 6 Goals and 04 assists HRK


Jimmy is now 109 (25) = 113 Games for 21 Goals a goal every 5.33 games. Hal should comfortably match that.

But it's the age old problem with youngsters - how do they gain experience without playing games, when they also face being written off by a number of supporters if they're not the finished product from day one?

Earlier in the season when he wasn't so good I thought his major problem was that he went forward watching the defender waiting for them to make a mistake before committing himself to an attacking run. This often saw him stall and give him less ability to move the ball quickly and jink either way, allowing the defender to have a better opportunity to stick a foot in a get the ball away from him.

Either that or he'd just telegraph tipping it beyond them and try and run, making it really easy for them to put a foot out and knoc it out of play.

More recently he's been actively forcing the defender to commit to a challenge and keeping the pace and pressure up on the defender, allowing him to move the ball quicker and react to that challenge and go past him.

That's a sign of confidence and decision making. Lets remember a couple of seasons ago Kebe had zero end product because he always took on too much, fell over the ball or walked into trouble.
